Octoroks are purple octopus like enemies from the Legend of Zelda series. They appear in Super Smash Bros. Melee, as enemies in the Underground Maze in Adventure Mode. They attack by spitting rocks at the fighters. They also appear during about any type of melee mode hidden in carrier items along with ReDeads, Goombas, and other creatures found in Adventure Mode. They also appear in The Legend of Zelda microgame from WarioWare: Twisted! where they shoot at Link.
The Octolots and Octovaders from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars might be designed as a reference to Octoroks. Octoroks were also briefly parodied in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, which featured an almost identical species of monsters known as the Chuckoroks. Additionally, Octoroks, like several other generic Zelda enemies, had an enemy based on them in Super Paper Mario. In this case, Octoroks were parodied by Squiglets, Squigs, Squogs, Squoinkers, and Dark Squiglets. Most Octoomba variants and King Kaliente from Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel may be inspired from Octoroks due to similarity in their appearance and the fact that they spit objects much like Octoroks do.

These common enemies made their debut in the very first Legend of Zelda game and have been a staple of every game in the series since. They shoot rocks from their mouths at high velocity, but the projectiles are simple to block and do very little damage. Octoroks have low stamina, so they don't pose much of a threat to good fighters. |
