Bonus Stars are special points found in the game Super Mario World. They are earned by touching the goal post. (More Bonus Stars are given depending on the height of the goal tape when Mario breaks it.) These Bonus Stars are saved from level to level, and earning 100 of them will let Mario or Luigi go to a bonus mini-game where they can earn 1-Up Mushrooms.

Bonus Stars reappear in the Mario Party series, however in this series they were just normal kinds of stars awarded after a party game was finished. This kind of star was awarded to the characters whi did a certain thing during the game. For example landing on the most ? Spaces, or using the most items.
