Bomberman (also known as the White Bomber) is the heroic defender of the Planet Bomber. He was first introduced to the mario universe in Wario game Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman!, but he also appeared alongside Mario and others in two comics published in the German Club Nintendo magazine.

History

Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman!

During the events of Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman!, the greedy Wario somehow wound up on Bomberman's homeworld. Being the sort of person he is, Wario decided to plunder the new land, taking the world's riches for himself. However, Bomberman, the only hero on Planet Bomber strong enough to confront the strange villain, engaged Wario and his army of False Warios in a battle of bombs. The White Bomber was not alone in his fight; an army of weaker Bombermen aided the hero by engaging Wario himself in direct combat. The two fought a long campaign, using explosives to injure each other in battle. However, when all was said and done, Bomberman emerged the victor. Bomberman's bombs had defeated Wario's blasts, and the greedy villain was expelled back to Mushroom World.

Club Nintendo

"Warios Weihnachtsmärchen"

Bomberman as seen in the Club Nintendo comic, Warios Weihnachtsmärchen.

Bomberman also appeared as a main character in the comic "Warios Weihnachtsmärchen", published in the German Club Nintendo magazine. In this story, he worked as a sales-clerk in Wario's Bombenladen, a shop selling bombs. When he asked his cold-hearted boss for getting days off during Christmas, Wario fired him, resulting in Bomberman not having enough money to buy Christmas presents for his friends. The Ghosts of Christmas, however, made Wario aware of his bad behavior, so in the end of the story he hired Bomberman again.

"Sag niemals Holerö!"

Once again, Bomberman played a major role in the comic, "Sag niemals Holerö!". This story is about an evil alien called Heini who is able and plans to turn the humans on Earth into food by singing the magical song, "Holerö". Mario and TicToc, not knowing about the spell yet but noticing its consequences, were among the few who could resist it, and on their way from Switzerland to New York, they met Bomberman in Austria who was not affected by the spell either. Bomberman introduced himself as "Bombi from Vienna", and decided to join Mario and TicToc in order to solve the mystery jointly. The three of them soon met a Toad called Todojewski who told them about Heini and his plans. He also gave the advice to go to "Taj Mahal", a restaurant in Frankfurt, Germany, so Bomberman and his friends went there. In Taj Mahal, they met a man called Mahgo who told each of the heroes about one special power they had. Bomberman's power was throwing bombs.

Later in the story, the three friends stumbled upon three girls called Nicole, Pia and Balu, who had not been transformed either. Glad about this meeting, the six of them had dinner together. Balu decided to turn on some music, and Pia made a remark that she should play their "favorite song". In this moment, Bomberman, seeing through the girls' true plans - playing the "Holerö" song and thus turning Bomberman, T.T. and Mario into food -, threw a bomb at them and saved his friends. He made use of his power once again when the three heroes got wise to Heini in the kitchen of the Alte Oper. The alien was just about to serve the transformed humans to his fellows, when TicToc stopped time, and meanwhile Bomberman threw bombs at the aliens. Mario rescued the people, so the friends could save the world from evil Heini.

"Freeze Frame"

Bomberman is also set to appear in the N-Gang comic called Freeze Frame, where Big B, Yoshi and Diddy Kong find him and Kirby frozen in the solid block of ice.
