Although Purple Yoshi had artwork for the game ''[[Yoshi's Story]]'', and was even in the intro sequence, it was absent; despite heavy rumors of collecting every coin in every level would unlock it. However, in its artwork it had dark pink shoes, and a red saddle, which would remain its design from then on, except for ''[[Super Mario Sunshine]]'', where it wore orange shoes like the other Yoshis in that game.
