The Mailbox SP is a device Mario has in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It is available from the start. It resembles a Game Boy Advance SP and is used to receive e-mails. However, the player is unable to send messages. Mario receives e-mails from Jolene, Princess Peach, and various other people throughout the game, mostly from people who Mario has helped in the Trouble Center, as well as the RDM. It is unknown how Jolene and characters other than Peach know Mario's e-mail address.
Whenever Mario receives e-mails from somebody, the Mailbox SP rings, usually with the theme from Super Mario World that plays during the cutscene where Mario destroys a castle after defeating a Koopaling. If Mario receives an e-mail from Peach, it rings with the title theme from Super Mario World. Whenever Jolene (although the player doesn't know it is Jolene as the e-mail is from "X") sends Mario an e-mail, the ring tone is the Ice Land theme from Super Mario Bros. 3.
