Mario must time the attack right for it to work. If he long jumps at the beginning of the spin, he will do a [[spin jump]]. If he long jumps too late, he will just do a long jump. However, if Mario can time it correctly, the double kick can be a very helpful move. Mario can use it to instantly defeat [[Hammer Bro.|Hammer Bros.]], [[Boomerang Bro.|Boomerang Bros.]], [[Goomba]]s, [[Piranha Plant]]s, and all varieties of [[Octoomba]]s, just to name a few. It can also break [[Item Crystal]]s and activate [[Chance Cube]]s, [[Lever]]s, and [[Gravity Arrow]]s. However, it cannot break [[Crates]]. The Double Kick can also make [[Speedy Comet|speedrunning]] faster, as it is a way to hit enemies and move quickly at the same time.
