Thwomp Volcano (Japanese: ドッスン・ボルケーノ Dossun Volcano) is a large currently inactive volcano in the northwest corner of the Mushroom Kingdom. The Mario Bros. came here in pursuit of Bowser during the events of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Young Elvin Gadd used to live here prior to its annual eruption. A trail leads up to the volcano with a sign saying "Beware of falling objects". The sign references Thwomps, which attack by pounding foes. The volcano is full of, and appears to made out of Thwomps for some unknown reason. Thwomp Caverns can be accessed by using Mr. Thwomp as an elevator, and deep inside the caverns will include a battle where Bowser and Baby Bowser are fought.

A new Thwomp was found at the bottom of the first sublevel after Mr. Thwomp delivered the Mario Bros. to the top of the first sublevel. He helped the Mario Bros. get to the lower sub-levels of the Thwomp Volcano and was stopped when there was a large giant ! Block blocking access to the next sublevel.
Unlike the game's other areas, Thwomp Volcano is nearly untouched by the Shroob invasion, other than the presence of Blazing Shroobs in the caverns. Notably, Toad mountaineers can be found outside, whereas everywhere else, most Toads have been captured.

A second Thwomp was found running the Slot Machine game. The Mario Bros. needed to play the game at least once to reach the next area. The game costs 100 coins to play, and prizes vary upon the result and skill level of the game, with four Beans or 80 coins being the highest prize on Extra-Burly Mode. For the 100 coin stake, it is possible to play the game up to six times, depending on how many gems are collected in the pinball game above the slots, therefore making the total maximum prize either 480 coins, 24 Beans or a combination thereof.

Another Thwomp was found near a Twister and an ! Block. The only way to reach the ! Block was to board it and Spin Jump up. Like the other Thwomp, he requires the Mario Bros. to play a mini-game involving spinning down a deep room and collecting gems. If they have collected enough gems, he will allow them to Jump on top of him and reach the block. Leaving this room and returning allows the Mario Bros. to play again. This time, collecting 30 gems awards 20 coins, and collecting all 50 awards a Simple Badge for the first time, and a Bean for all subsequent successful attempts.

Thwomp Volcano is a dormant volcano in the southeast corner of the Mushroom Kingdom. The Mario Bros. come here in pursuit of Bowser (who has kidnapped Princess Shroob disguised as Princess Peach) during the events of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. The younger version of Professor Elvin Gadd used to live here prior to its annual eruption. The interior of the volcano, Thwomp Caverns, can be accessed by using Mr. Thwomp as an elevator, and deep inside the caverns, Bowser and Baby Bowser are fought.

After the Hydrogush 4000 renders the volcano inactive, the adult and baby bros journey inside after being confronted by Mr. Thwomp and Mrs. Thwomp. Mrs. Thwomp becomes outraged that the volcano became inactive and her husband loses his confidence. After the battle with Mrs. Thwomp, Mr. Thwomp agrees to help the Mario Bros. get a lift inside.

Unlike the game's other areas, Thwomp Volcano is nearly untouched by the Shroob invasion, other than the presence of Blazing Shroobs in the caverns. Notably, Toad mountaineers can be found outside, whereas everywhere else, most Toads have been captured.
