Who has seen luma? Because when I saw the trailer I did not see luma and wouldn't rosalina be included if there were lumas? --Count b 21:04, 3 June 2009 (EDT) Count b
What do you guys think the in-game prize is for collecting 120 stars? Me, I think it's a new character or two. User:DK Fan

:If you see Mario running away from the two Banzai Bills, he'll Spin jump and a Luma appears briefly after him. -- 21:18, 3 June 2009 (EDT)
It's the Special World. Look at SMG2 Prima's Guide. Mario Fan 123 - Mario's CRAAAZY FAN!
::Yeah. I said Luma, not Lumas, because so far there's only the one Luma that Mario had with him in the previous game that appears whenever he does a spin jump. - 08:59, 4 June 2009 (EDT)

I see so that means rosalina is in the game because in the first one rosalina gave mario luma so I am going to put rosalina for now. --Count b 11:59, 4 June 2009 (EDT) Count b
:Please talk about this on a forum, this is for serious questions, not speculation unfortunately. --
:That's a bit too speculative. Just wait until we have some evidence. Just because something is "most likely" in the game, it isn't confirmed. - 13:41, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
::Luma's appearance doesn't confirm Rosalina's. In Mario Power Tennis (GBA version), Waluigi is playable, but Wario isn't. --Grandy02 14:10, 4 June 2009 (EDT)

Should we add a references to other games section? There are some elements from older Mario games.

Upside Dizzy
Which of these is Upside Dizzy, and whatever is Upside Dizzy, what is the OTHER one called?

Well if star bunnies appear than that could mean lumas appear to. .:yoshi:.
Is it the galaxy featured in this image:
:File:SMG2_Comet_Metal.png

Well i think that mega-leg type creature is probaly going to be called a "mini-leg" Catsrnice
Or the galaxy featured in this video:

:I don't want to sound offensive, but come on! Stop your unnecessary speculation because we all know that will no be it!
They both have the whole 'gravity is determined by the background' thing going, exept the one in the picture has the gravity change automatically, where as the one in the video has the gravity changed via switches. Is the one in the picture an early version, or are they just different galaxies with very similar 'gimmicks', like Bubble Blast vs Bubble Breeze in Super Mario Galaxy, for example?

Confirmed Galaxies
16:47, 15 June 2009 (EDT)
If you go to the Prima Games website you will find all the confirmed galaxies. Here are some unconfirmed ones that are now confirmed. World 1: Rightside Down Galaxy. World 2: Wild Glide Galaxy. World 3: Freezy Flake Galaxy and Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy. World 4: Supermassive Galaxy, Flipsville Galaxy, Starshine Beach Galaxy, Chompworks Galaxy, Sweet Mystery Galaxy, Honeyhop Galaxy, Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet. World 5: Space Storm Galaxy, Slipsand Galaxy, Shiverburn Galaxy, Boo Moon Galaxy, Fleet Glide Galaxy, Bowser Jr.'s Boom Bunker. World 6: Melty Monster Galaxy, Clockwork Ruins Galaxy, Throwback Galaxy, Flash Black Galaxy, Slimy Spring Galaxy, Bowser's Galaxy Generator. Special World: Mario Squared Galaxy, Rolling Coaster Galaxy, Twisty Trials Galaxy, Stone Cyclone Galaxy,Boss Blitz Galaxy, Flip-out Galaxy, Grandmaster Galaxy.

Well there you have it
:If you see the trailer, Mario appears to be switching a "clock"-like switch with the spin jump that turns the environment color into gray, and everything moves slowly.
It's a me 123
::The "switch that stops time" appears in the E3 trailer at 1:33. When Mario hits the switch, the screen goes black & white, and the platforms stop rotating. The part in the trailer is too short to find out whether the time actually halted or just slowed down.
::We definitely noticed some previously unseen items - two of them are the power-ups for Yoshi we already mentioned in the article. The other items don't really have a place in the article because we don't have the slightest idea what they do. - 16:59, 15 June 2009 (EDT)

Looks like the powers ups for Yoshi are some type of fruit. Stick2012 22:45, 27 June 2009 (EDT)

Also item boxes from Mario Kart series make their debut on a Mario 3-D Adventure Game, only that with a different appearence. Also the winged ? Block appears MasterBlaster3000

The peaches from Super Mario world reappear, probably serving the purpose of awarding Mario one coin when eaten with Yoshi. Mariomaruf

Why not try shaking the remote while Yoshi is getting the peper? (also can eat with the B Button)

Two things. The spinning mario kart like items boxes have at least one side with a red and black bowser face (like the ones in the red mushroom houses in the New Super Mario Bros Wii), a 1-up and gold coin. I guess you hit it and something randomly happens.
Secondly, add crate to the list, there's one in the background whilst inflatable Yoshi is on the screen.

Release Date?
Well, I got a little antsy about waiting to find out this game's release. So I checked a few websites. There is nothing on Nintendo.com, but on video game central.com it says the release is Febuary 10th 2010. This would Make sense becuase Miyamoto said that Nintendo is far along in development for this game. However, I have no idea if this is correct, and Feb. 10th sounds a bit random. What do you guys Think?Ratfink43

I don't think they'd lie about something like that. I think its true, but lets see other people's opinions on this. Can it be true?

Nintendo games in North America usually are released on Mondays and sometimes Sunday. If 10 Febuary 2010 is not on Monday or Sunday, it's most likely fake. In Japan and Australia, Nintendo games are released on Thuresday and in Europe on Friday. I hope this information might help.
:In Europe it's always a Friday, true. I don't think they are lying about a release date, but they just put in a filler into their database. Until we get official confirmation, we shouldn't put anything in the article. - 14:08, 2 December 2009 (EST)

On Nintendo.com, you can put the games list in release date order. SMG2 of course doesn't have an exact release date(TBA), but it is between the games, "Glory of Heracles", which will be released Jan. 18, and "Shiren the Wanderer", which will be released on Feb. 9. Since it is between those games in release date order(besides the other TBA games) it may be released somewhere Jan 18th - Feb 9th. It might.
:That is VERY unlikely considering nobody has ever played the game or seen it in action, so far we only had one trailer. There is no way they will release the game in Q1. - 10:44, 3 December 2009 (EST)
::I heard that Nintendo was just finishing SMG2, though. So, it shouldn't take that too much longer to be released.

Let me just say, there isn't much info on this game, so I watch this site very closely. I Have a piece of important information. In the E3 trailer during the "Dark Marios" scene some dark marios are seen following and mimicing him, which may mean that they act like mario and copy him in moving, but some Dark Marios were jumping and running on their own so are they obstacles or enemies. And another thing is that another planet looks identical to the planet which the Luma transforms in Good Egg Galaxy. User:MarioMaster720 23.12.2009

Bowser is not yet confirmed to be in in the game. Why is he in the character list? Just becuase there is an Ice Sculpture and Airships doesent mean Bowser is confirmed. While his apperance is very likley, it is not confirmed. Supermariofan14 said if Bowser's airship is there then Bowser has to be there. The airships do not confirm Bowser's apperance becuase A new enemy might have taken Bowser's airships just like the Subspace stole Meta Knight's Halbred Ship in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Ah, who am I kidding. Nintendo very rarley makes new villians, and for major non-RPG games like this one they ALWAYS use Bowser. I say we leave Bowser there until it is confirmed he isint there. Ratfink43
Isn't there like a Galaxy name Yoshi Galaxy or Yoshi Egg Galaxy?

Why is the article locked? There is a tiny bit more information to add than what is there. As in the fact we don't know how big of a role yoshi play's or if you can even take him out of a level like New Super Mario Bros. Wii does. And all the planets in the video are not confirmed, and the fact that from the dark mario's... more of Super Mario 128 is coming into play, hence the multible playable Mario's. Well, could someone high-up please edit the info? Thanks, Brandman1996 :D 22:46, 31 December 2009 (EST)

Enemy Changes!!!
When i first watched this video: http://mynintendonews.com/2010/05/20/nintendo-wii-super-mario-64-level-featured-in-mario-galaxy-2/. I noticed an identical Giant Purple Piranha plant at 0:35 as the ones in Super Mario Galaxy. I checked the enemy list and Piranha plant article and it stood nothing about it so i added it on the enemy list. And by the way, Those enemies piloting Koopa Clown Copters look almost identical to the Undergrunt Gunners also from the First game. I won't add the Koopa Clown Enemy in the article, but the Purple piranha plant MUST be there. MarioMaster720

I did a list on another site (nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Mario_Galaxy_2), however, some of the main galaxies' normal (yellow/gold) stars are secret stars, but some are just a second normal star, and the galaxies with secret stars have a normal star, then comet star, then secret star (i.e. the comet star is 2nd), where as the other galaxies have a normal star, another normal star, and THEN the comet star as a third star. This section is 99% accurate, but it says that The intro to SMG2 is a continuation from the Grand Finale Galaxy from the first game. This is speculation, no? The nattarater even says: "The Star Festival has comeAgain" (Well, he said something like" The star festival happens every hundred years, and that time has come again) Should this inaccurate information be deleted? Ratfink43

I don't think it's enough to confirm Bowser's presence in this game. It's like the snow statue
Innacurate "New Enemies" Section?
:I wouldn't see the reason why Mario would just go out into the black Universe and having nothing to do. Bowser Jr. has been confirmed, so why would he just be there? To avenge his father? I don't think Bowser died in the original game. And since Bowser Jr. always wants to defeat Mario, then what would be the absolute point? I heard the story of SMG2 would be toned down (which I never saw any story in the original, except Rosalina's story), but that doesn't mean Mario can have nothing to do. Maybe Bowser kidnaps Peach as always, and you have to save her. Probably no bigger story than that. MechaWave
The "New Enemies" section of the page lists a number of enemies that have appeared in previous Mario games (Big Boos, Hammer Bros., and Whomps to name a few). Many of the enemies listed are ones that didn't appear in Super Mario Galaxy, but are certainly not new. If I am misunderstanding the purpose of this section and it is in fact for listing enemies that appear in a game that weren't in it's prequel then please let me know.--Kirbychu HR'D 04:30, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
:I believe the section references enemies new to the Super Mario Galaxy series (i.e. not in the first game) and it is accurate on that count Alexfusco5
::Well then the section title should probably be changed. The current title suggests that the enemies listed are enemies new to the Mario series, and similar sections on other articles (Such as the "New Enemies" section on the page for New Super Mario Bros.) only use the section for that purpose. There should at least be a note saying that the enemies are new to the Mario Galaxy series and not the Mario series as a whole.--Kirbychu HR'D
:::I think people realize the section does not pertain to the Mario series as a whole, since the returning enemies section features enemies found only in the first Galaxy. Mario4Ever

How do you edit the article?
:Bowser was clearly seen recovering at the end of SMG1, for your information. It doesn't really make sense to speculate here - from any logical point of view, of course Bowser is in this game. But we're not here to make assumptions, as accurate as they may be, we're writing the article only about what's confirmed. - 10:53, 28 February 2010 (EST)
I am having trouble editing the Super Mario Galaxy 2 article. I cannot find any sort of "edit" buttons neither at the top of the aricle, nor in a section. I am also having this trouble with NSMBW. :Well, the background is the same as the "Bowser Galaxy" backgrounds in the first game, and the red head seems to be one of his known "decorations". I need some proof that Paratroopa is in the game.
Okay, under the Gameplay Elements section, it says that Red and Blue platforms were brought back from Super Mario Sunshine. I know what they are from SMG2, however I don't recall anything like that ever being in Super Mario Sunshine at all...would anyone be able to enlighten me?

:Well, I don't know. There are several enemies that I never saw in the trailer or images.

:I'm not sure if this fits in the talk page, but they appear in the second secret level in Bianco Hills, in the star The Secret of the Dirty Lake.
::It does fit, since it's a question of the article's accuracy. 17:21, 12 April 2011 (EDT)

It's possible that, that Red Koopa from the first trailer was mistaken for a Paratroopa.

:::Oh yeah! Now I remember, I know exactly what you're talking about! But those things definitely aren't the same as the Red and Blue Platforms that appear in the Flip Swap Galaxy (and a few other galaxies). For one thing, they rotated at their centers, i.e. - not like hinges on doors like these ones, and if I recall correctly, those platforms are actually orange and blue, not Red and Blue, plus, they have wood on their centers, and therefore appear not to be made of metal, and they rotated independently of the player's control, and they are like 2x thicker than in SMG2, and they move around randomly and bounce into each other while flipping instead of remaining stationary, and they don't all flip at the same time, they alternate flipping (also, the two colors are not physically connected, though I think that was mentioned in the article already)...the point is, there's a world of differences here, why are we claiming they're the same things just 'cause they look slightly similar?

:Koopas in Galaxy walk on four legs, and Paratroopas can also be green. Besides, it's hardly noticed, so no one could have mistaken it. Besides, there are like three or four enemies in the list that I didn't see in the trailer.

a small question anyway
the mario galaxy 2 game looks better than the 1st one, an I still enjoy playing all the old mario games back in the day from super mario bros. super mario bros. 2(japanese version) an usa mario 2, mario world an mario 3 were good games too.

The japan mario 2 known as the lost levels that were 1st rereleased in mario all stars game 1993, anyway japan mario 2 is a hard game an frustating too but it's takes time an it's not impossible too finish the whole game from 1-1 to 8-4 an finish the game 8 times without reseting can unlock a-1 to d-4.

Anyway I'm looking forward for mario galaxy 2, an also bout the characters in the game is the bob-omb an pokeys are gonna appear in that game because they appeared in about every game sense usa mario 2. Expect mario 3 didn't had the pokey character in it.

An the only game that I thought sucked was mario sunshine an I was surprised when mario galaxy 1 came out in 2007 an it turned out too be a big improvment compare to sunshine.

Nintendo Power - April 2010 Issue
So, NP had an article on SMG2 in their latest issue, and revealed a couple of things. So I thought I'd list them here before I start editing, just so that people don't think I'm just jumping to conclusions:

* Bowser returns to kidnap Peach once again. Same old, same old. Just thought I'd let you know he really is behind all of it again. Not like nobody expected it, but he just wasn't confirmed to appear.
* Name changes: Gobblegut is actually Gobbleguts. Mallettoid has a full title of the Mighty Mallettoid. Digg-Legg is actually Digga-Legg. The "new version of the Dino Piranha," is the Peewee Piranha, which apparently has a pink/red weak spot on its backside that Mario has to hit a total of six times to win, with the Peewee Piranha getting powered-up halfway through the fight via rage, much like the Dino Piranha before it.
* Yoshi can eat a fruit called a Bulb Berry to glow, which, judging by the art in the magazine, not only turns him a bright, glowing yellow, but seems to have the effect of nullifying the effects of dark matter, so that Mario and Yoshi can walk on platforms that have been made non-existent by it.
* There will be no hub, like the Comet Observatory. Instead, Mario will simply select galaxies from a screen, much like New Super Mario Bros. Wii. <s>Either that, or Nintendo Power only got to see/play a demo that didn't have the hub world for spoiler reasons.</s> (He actually can access a mini-hub, the planetoid ship known as Starship Mario.)
* "Comet Metals," are, in fact, called "Comet Medals." Thought I'd clarify that. I don't know who it was who thought that the misspelling of "Medal" as "Metal" wasn't a misspelling, but it was.

I think that's all the major things to change, so I'll get to work. Teamrocketspy621 17:25, 30 March 2010 (EDT)
:PROOF! WE NEED PROOF!

::::Oops, my mistake. I figured since it was still March when I got it, it was the April issue. My bad, I'll let everyone else take care of it.</s> Oh, geez, double fail. Those are actually Famitsu scans, not NP scans. Maybe I ought to scan NP after all. Well, then again, it seems like IGN covers almost everything that I mentioned above in their new article and gameplay video. I'm making a fool of myself here. What do I do? Teamrocketspy621 15:25, 31 March 2010 (EDT)

Maybe this sounds offensive, but I'm not convinced if you don't have some source (a link to a website or to the magazine issue) that support your find. Do you have one...? It's not enough just your own words.

I have the April 2010 issue and it has nothing about SMG2. Unless you mean the May 2010 issue, although that hasn't been released yet.

Platitudinous What reason do we have not to trust this guy?
(Bowser fail!)

The last three are correct. Wayoshi even uploaded a video on the glimmer bulb berry, the starship mario, and etc. The first two, you need more proof. Bowser is unlikely in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

:What do you mean "unlikely?" It's a main series Mario platformer; those games rarely leave Bowser out (even in Sunshine, which had a plot twist that revealed the new villain, Shadow Mario, to really just be Bowser Jr.). And isn't the fact that I mentioned the Bulb Berry a day before it was actually revealed on IGN and in the new trailer proof that I wouldn't be lying about what NP said the story was? I mean, details like these are just too small for someone to lie about. I mean, if I was really gung-ho about lying, I'd have come on to the site saying something stupid like "ZOMG GAIZ BOWZER IZ BAK ADN HE TEEMZ UP WIHT TATANGA CUZ TATANGAZ AN ALEIN ADN ROSALINA DIEZ AT THE END TO SAEV MARIO FORM BOWZER ZOMG I'M TTLY NOT LYING GAIZ," instead of wording what I read in NP in a calm, organized manner. This just isn't the kind of stuff you can make up. But... if scans for such a minor story detail are really that necessary, I'd be glad to oblige. Teamrocketspy621 16:42, 2 April 2010 (EDT)

::What about Super Mario Bros. 2 (the one that the americans created because they don't like the other one?? That one has Wart as the boss, not Bowser.
:::I was gonna mention that game, but I used too many words and just took that section out of my little rant. Anyway, Super Mario Bros. 2 was not a completely American-original Mario game; it was a localization and Mario-ized version of a completely unrelated game, Doki Doki Panic, which, of course, not originally being part of the Mario series, would not have Bowser in it. They could've just as easily replaced Wart with Bowser, but they chose not to. Regardless, the game was not made as a Mario game with the idea of purposely not including Bowser. To put it simply, SMB, Japanese SMB2 (a.k.a. Lost Levels in America), SMB3, SMW, SM64, SMS, NSMB, SMG, and NSMBW, all the main series Mario games, had Bowser as the one and only villain. I rest my case and will scan the proof of his age-old role in the story, if necessary, to drive the point home. Teamrocketspy621 12:38, 3 April 2010 (EDT)

So far most of these are true. The chances the rest are true is very good Iruni181

Really a sequel
While it's true that many, even those at Nintendo, claim Mario Galaxy 2 to be a sequel, by definition, I don't believe Mario Galaxy 2 qualifies as a true sequel to the first game. Nothing in games makes reference to the first game, no events mentioned, the game treats it as Mario's first time in outer space, no Lumas recognize Mario. None of it lives up to the true definition of the word "sequel". I can provide some sources for this, based on the development of the game, though I can't say for sure if they count as truly reliable.

http://www.infendo.com/super-mario-galaxy-2-not-a-true-number-2/

And in the Iwata Asks about the game (http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/wii/supermariogalaxy2/0/0), Miyamoto even stats that the game was not named Galaxy 2 out of means for being a sequel, but more for the fact that more than enough new elements were put in to say it's not a follow up, but something almost new.

Rosalina
So I simply ask; can it really be called a sequel by definition or are we going to list it off as a sequel based on the similar idea and name? I personally don't find it correct to call it a sequel if it doesn't really act like one.
Where's Rosalina??
:Unless you want to start targeting every one of the series' sequels (NSMB to NSMB2, SMB to SMB2 to SMB3 to SMW, etc.), it seems rather pedantic to say that a game with a 2 in its title isn't a sequel. Say what you want about what Nintendo considers the game to be or whether or not it's substantial enough to warrant being separate, but the fact is that we got a game titled in a way that sequels are titled, so I'd rather apply Occam's Razor. Also, the game's numerous characters, abilities, items, aesthetic, and general gameplay are all incredibly evocative of its predecessor, so saying that nothing references the first game is rather misleading.
::I'm not saying nothing references the first game. Everything you listed is pretty much taken directly from the first game. I'm simply saying that stuff like the plot and how characters interact or react to one another don't support the game being a sequel. Though you have a point regarding the games you listed (NSMB2 has actually been called the direct sequel to the first NSMB if I recall and I believe some elements of Mario World's story do reference back to Mario Bros. 3), the only arguable one is SMB to SMB2, which don't really say the events happen directly after the other. Maybe I'm just complicating things, but I guess it could be simpler just to say it's a sequel to avoid confusion.
:::I'm pretty sure the reason Galaxy 1 isn't mentioned is because of it's ending. Remember that the universe recreated in that epic scene. Therefore, no one remembers Mario's previous adventures in space, except Mario and Rosalina, as they were in some sort of sanctuary watching the universe be recreated. And yes, this is the basis for a speculative theory, but while the theory itself cannot be mentioned on the wiki, the basis for it is pretty solid, I think. If this is too speculative, please disregard it at once. I guess what I'm saying is I would consider this a sequel, not least because of the 2 in its title.
::: 10:37, 7 November 2016 (EST)
::::Question, would not you consider Dream Team a sequel also because of its lack of continuity? Does a sequel need some continuity to be a sequel? 10:40, 7 November 2016 (EST)
:::::Going strictly by definition, a sequel is "A published, broadcast, or recorded work that continues the story or develops the theme of an earlier one." There are other definitions that fall more in line with what I discussed above, but this is usually the most common definition. The keyword there is "story": if a work doesn't follow the narrative of a preceding work, it can be argued that it isn't actually a sequel. Of course, I think that definition is too strict, especially for the wiki's purposes, but I'm playing devil's advocate. 11:55, 7 November 2016 (EST)
::::::Due to the lack of continuity in the Mario franchise, I don't think the definition Time Turner gives is valid. In this franchise, a sequel is a game succeeding another game with a similar name/theme. But even if it somehow does apply to the wiki, see my previous comment.
::::::: 13:14, 7 November 2016 (EST)
::::::::But you can argue that it's a sequel since it does "develop the theme of an earlier one". Within the scope of video games, there is little doubt this is a sequel. 18:01, 7 November 2016 (EST)

:Unfortunately she might not appear here this time.
Mixed up character descriptions
::I think the reason why is because the Comet Observatory disappeared into the black hole in the end of SMG.

:::Everyone disapared in the black hole in the end of SMG. Then the black hole collapsed because of the Lumas (remember: Lumas are stars) and exploded, making a "new Big Bang" in a way, and recreating everything as it was right before the Star Festival (with the exception of the galaxies Mario went through, that became a whole Galaxy). Rosalina may not appear because... there's no role for her ? The new "character that helps Mario and that Mario helps" is Luba. I noticed for galaxies that have both a secret mission and a prankster comet mission, the order of the missions here list the secret mission before the prankster comet mission. Yet, the images of the galaxies clearly show the secret missions after the prankster comet missions. This was not contradictory for the galaxy list for the prequel, which also listed the secret star mission or missions after both prankster comet missions on both the wiki and the in-game star list. I was just curious as to what prompted this and if it was necessary to change them? Also, could the missions be color-coded like the mission list for the first game? Thanks, --Crafty Potatoes (talk) 09:20, August 4, 2020 (EDT)

Haunty Hills Galaxy=Matter Splatter Mansion?
We should try to make a clearer definition for "planet/reachable area"
I was just playing the original game, and it occurred to me: Haunty Hills Galaxy (based on the trailers) looks EXACTLY like Matter Splatter Mansion from Ghostly Galaxy. I thought Nintendo said the levels would be entirely new. Those dirty liars! Damariogamr
So, I understand that there isn't exactly a concrete definition for what counts as a planet or area, which leaves some room for interpretation. However, as I was looking through the planet/area counts in the galaxies table, I saw some that definitely aren't right... Seven in Spin-Dig Galaxy? Only FOUR planets in Battle Belt Galaxy? And SEVEN in Throwback??? I really don't see how that would be possible to think, assuming those were put in intentionally and not just typos. I would change these, but I'm not sure what I'd put in myself. Would the pipe rooms in Battle Belt count as their own areas, or not because they're just the interior of other planets? What about the underside of the Whomp's Fortress planet? Is that its own area? It has its own gravity, so is that enough to qualify? Twisty Trials Galaxy is considered to have four areas despite not changing gravity or ever using Launch Stars/Pipes/Teleporters/etc to go anywhere; the areas are all connected. Idk it just seems really messy to me and it should probably be addressed one way or another. ViableBunnyBudd (talk) 13:35, August 18, 2024 (EDT)
:For Super Mario Galaxy, the "reachable areas" parameter was conceptualized as "what is separated by Launch Star or Warp Pipe?" It is less about the literal number of planets because quite a few can simply be jumped between so it is not very contextualizing. I would revise these numbers with the same framework. Super Mario Galaxy 2 has not been scrutinized as much as its predecessor because that one was nominated for feature status. - Nintendo101 (talk) 20:34, August 18, 2024 (EDT)

Upside Dizzy[edit]

Which of these is Upside Dizzy, and whatever is Upside Dizzy, what is the OTHER one called?

Is it the galaxy featured in this image: File:SMG2_Comet_Metal.png

Or the galaxy featured in this video:

They both have the whole 'gravity is determined by the background' thing going, exept the one in the picture has the gravity change automatically, where as the one in the video has the gravity changed via switches. Is the one in the picture an early version, or are they just different galaxies with very similar 'gimmicks', like Bubble Blast vs Bubble Breeze in Super Mario Galaxy, for example?

New Bosses?[edit]

Okay, so I was on IGN.com, and it showed videos of new boss fights, their names, and the galaxies theyre fought in:

-Glamdozer looks like an obese clam-pig and is fought in Flipsville Galaxy.

-Pikante looks like the result of a 3-way crash between an electrogoomba, monty tank, and an undergrunt gunner and is fought in Shiverburn Galaxy.

-Squizzard looks like a blargg magmaargh covered with sand and is fought in Slipsand Galaxy.

-Lakitu is the name that appears for the obese lakitu (not sure if this is offical.)

-Sorbetti is the ice taptap creature and is fought in Freezy Flake Galaxy.

Not sure if the names are correct (Sorbetti, Pikante, Lakitu). We'll find out Sunday for sure. These are what I think they look like. Damariogamr (talk)

Stars?[edit]

Does anyone have a complete list of stars in order? I did a list on another site (nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Mario_Galaxy_2), however, some of the main galaxies' normal (yellow/gold) stars are secret stars, but some are just a second normal star, and the galaxies with secret stars have a normal star, then comet star, then secret star (i.e. the comet star is 2nd), where as the other galaxies have a normal star, another normal star, and THEN the comet star as a third star. Also, every single galaxy has the same number of Green Stars as yellow stars, except Grandmaster Galaxy, which only has 2 (The Ultimate Test and The Perfect Run)--TheUltimateKoopa 14:19, 24 May 2010 (EDT)

UR MR GAY/ YA IM RU[edit]

On the Super Mario Galaxy discussion page it was said that the infamous "UR MR GAY" star boxart spelling should NOT be included in the trivia section, Recent SMG2 fans have noticed another "sexual" spelling in the boxart of Super Mario Galaxy 2 which normally says: UR MI AY, but if read backwards it says: YA IM RU which is translated to: SMG: You're Mr. Gay? SMG2: Yeah i am, are you?. I'm 100% sure that CAN'T be a coincidence so i think that it deserves a mention in the trivia section. Dino Piranha, King Kaliente, Major Burrows[edit]

Why does this keep getting changed back? During the game you have to battle Dino Piranha and King Kaliente four times, the regular mission, the speed run, and both green star mission. Major Burrows is three times, normal mission, speed run, and the second green star mission. Yes, you do have to battle them in order to make the launch star appear in order for you to get to the next planet so you can make your way to the green star, so stop removing this. --SinnohMasterGalaxy 23:58, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

You do not have to do that for Green Stars. The Green Stars are scattered throughout the levels, but beating the bosses does not ever (as far as I know), actually give you a Green Star. That means you only have to beat them once or twice. Fawfulfury65

Refrences to other Games section[edit]

This section is 99% accurate, but it says that The intro to SMG2 is a continuation from the Grand Finale Galaxy from the first game. This is speculation, no? The Grand Finale Galaxy left off with Mario getting a Power Star right in front of Peach's castle, but when SMG2 starts, Mario is not here, and Peach invites him to the castle. The nattarater even says: "The Star Festival has comeAgain" (Well, he said something like" The star festival happens every hundred years, and that time has come again) Should this inaccurate information be deleted? Innacurate "New Enemies" Section?[edit]

I believe the section references enemies new to the Super Mario Galaxy series (i.e. not in the first game) and it is accurate on that count Alexfusco5 (talk)
Well then the section title should probably be changed.
I think people realize the section does not pertain to the Mario series as a whole, since the returning enemies section features enemies found only in the first Galaxy. Mario4Ever (talk)

Like this...
Oh yeah!

Really a sequel[edit]

So I simply ask; can it really be called a sequel by definition or are we going to list it off as a sequel based on the similar idea and name? I personally don't find it correct to call it a sequel if it doesn't really act like one. Sprite of Yoshi's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tails777 Talk to me!Sprite of Daisy's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Unless you want to start targeting every one of the series' sequels (NSMB to NSMB2, SMB to SMB2 to SMB3 to SMW, etc.), it seems rather pedantic to say that a game with a 2 in its title isn't a sequel. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
I'm not saying nothing references the first game. Sprite of Yoshi's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tails777 Talk to me!Sprite of Daisy's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
I'm pretty sure the reason Galaxy 1 isn't mentioned is because of it's ending.

Going strictly by definition, a sequel is "A published, broadcast, or recorded work that continues the story or develops the theme of an earlier one." There are other definitions that fall more in line with what I discussed above, but this is usually the most common definition. The keyword there is "story": if a work doesn't follow the narrative of a preceding work, it can be argued that it isn't actually a sequel. Of course, I think that definition is too strict, especially for the wiki's purposes, but I'm playing devil's advocate. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 11:55, 7 November 2016 (EST)
Due to the lack of continuity in the Mario franchise, I don't think the definition Time Turner gives is valid. In this franchise, a sequel is a game succeeding another game with a similar name/theme. But even if it somehow does apply to the wiki, see my previous comment.

Placement of Secret Missions (barring Green Stars) vs Prankster Comet Missions compared to SMG1 and Color-Code the Missions[edit]

We should try to make a clearer definition for "planet/reachable area"[edit]

For Super Mario Galaxy, the "reachable areas" parameter was conceptualized as "what is separated by Launch Star or Warp Pipe?" It is less about the literal number of planets because quite a few can simply be jumped between so it is not very contextualizing. I would revise these numbers with the same framework. Super Mario Galaxy 2 has not been scrutinized as much as its predecessor because that one was nominated for feature status. - Nintendo101 (talk) 20:34, August 18, 2024 (EDT)
