In World 8-1, Mario and Co. have to go through a volcanic area full of lava. Raining Debris fall from the sky, which are hard to dodge as there are rising lava spouts, which block the players temporarily from progressing further if they don't have the Propeller Suit. Also, a cloud of hot ashes will chase the players from the left to the right. The hot ashes will instantly take out the heroes on contact, so they have to hurry.

This level contains more falling debris and with spinning wheels on the ground. As soon as Mario and the co. enter the pipe, they end up in an underground area filled with more lava. Goombas will appear many times on this stage, along with the spiked balls. The team will just have to dodge the obstacles and will get through. However, there is a secret exit, after the Mario team passes a yellow and a red pipe, they will see more spiked balls rolling forward slowly. Right at the ledge, if the team drops down and heads right to the wall, a secret entrance will allow them to enter a pipe further if they keep heading right.

8-7 (Bonecoaster Fun Park)
The level is secret, in which can only be unlocked by taking the secret path on World 8-2. This is the first and only level were players will see the Bonecoasters. There are a total of five coasters throughout the level (two at the underground section, three at the above ground section). The Bonecoaster helps the four dodge the lava geysers that are constantly shooting from the lava. The first Star Coin is located on the second Bonecoaster, where it is barely above the lava, which Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, or Yellow Toad must grab as the Bonecoaster comes out of the lava. The second star coin is located above two lava geysers, which the four must jump off the third Bonecoaster to grab it. The last star coin is found between the four and fifth Bonecoaster. Mario and co. must stay on the fourth Bonecoaster, grab the coin, and jump to the fifth Bonecoaster before they touch the geyser. After the Bonecoasters, it is a short jump onto the flagpole, which leads Mario and friends to 8-Airship.

8-Ship (Cannon Airship)
The last Airship level in the game.  The main enemy in the course is the Mecha-Koopa, but the biggest danger in the level is the cannons and the players will have to dodge a barrage of cannonballs at one point. At the end is the last battle against Bowser Jr..

8-Castle (Bowser's Castle)
Despite being the last castle, Bowser's Castle is much shorter in this game than it was in New Super Mario Bros..

For the first (out of 2) room, there are lots of Podoboos, which will jump out of the lava and try and get the player. The second room has lots of falling platforms and sinking lava, but sadly the platforms suddenly fall faster than the lava!  Last room there is is a big green door leading to Bowser himself.

Bowser will spit fireballs at Mario, and then he'll see the fiery behemoth. Mario has to hit the switch at the other side of Bowser to save... Kamek? Kamek will then make Bowser grow, but to his astonishment, Bowser grows too much. He spits fireballs at the plumber and breaks the walls (or obstacles). Eventually, after hopping on countless numbers of floating platforms, Mario will see a big switch at the end of the room, with Peach above. Mario hits it, causing the lava to sink, along with Bowser. Peach falls down, and they go outside.

Two balloons come, one with Luigi and the other with Blue Toad and Yellow Toad. Luigi offers Mario and Peach a ride, but they leave him behind. Then, the Toads let him go in their balloon and they rode off. Peach asks Mario if she told him about the secret world and Mario shrugged.  After the credits, the scene goes to Bowser, where all the Koopalings (except for Larry and Lemmy) try to flip the shrunken Bowser and succeed. Then, the vibrations of that make Bowser's Castle fall down on the Koopa family (apparently).

World 8 on the world select screen.

World 8, also titled Bowser's World,[1] is the final main world in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is volcano-themed, with many of the levels featuring lava-themed enemies such as Lava Bubbles. The world has a total of ten levels and is the only world to not feature a Koopaling as a boss, to have the airship level be before the castle and to have different castle and tower bosses. It also has a total of eleven exits. The background music that plays in this world was rearranged in Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition as the music for World 7.

The fortress here leads to a fight with Magikoopa, who previously in the game is only seen enhancing the Koopalings when the heroes reach them in castles. This world also features the third and final fight with Bowser Jr., once again on an airship. The final level features the two-part final battle with Bowser, who is not once seen in the game up until that point. The Enemy Course in this world is Lava Bubbles between 8-3 and World 8-Tower on the bridge.
