Who has seen luma? Because when I saw the trailer I did not see luma and wouldn't rosalina be included if there were lumas? --Count b 21:04, 3 June 2009 (EDT) Count b
What do you guys think the in-game prize is for collecting 120 stars? Me, I think it's a new character or two. User:DK Fan

:If you see Mario running away from the two Banzai Bills, he'll Spin jump and a Luma appears briefly after him. -- 21:18, 3 June 2009 (EDT)
It's the Special World. Look at SMG2 Prima's Guide. Mario Fan 123 - Mario's CRAAAZY FAN!
::Yeah. I said Luma, not Lumas, because so far there's only the one Luma that Mario had with him in the previous game that appears whenever he does a spin jump. - 08:59, 4 June 2009 (EDT)

I see so that means rosalina is in the game because in the first one rosalina gave mario luma so I am going to put rosalina for now. --Count b 11:59, 4 June 2009 (EDT) Count b
:Please talk about this on a forum, this is for serious questions, not speculation unfortunately. --
:That's a bit too speculative. Just wait until we have some evidence. Just because something is "most likely" in the game, it isn't confirmed. - 13:41, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
::Luma's appearance doesn't confirm Rosalina's. In Mario Power Tennis (GBA version), Waluigi is playable, but Wario isn't. --Grandy02 14:10, 4 June 2009 (EDT)

Reference to other games
Should we add a references to other games section? There are some elements from older Mario games.
:Well, I heard a music from super mario world, I saw checkpoint flag, berries...etc.I think that is not all...I agree with Mario JC.Any other opinions?
::Are there <u>certain</u> and <u>noteworthy</u> references yet? If not, I'd suggest waiting until the game cets actually released. - 06:57, 18 May 2010 (EDT)
So hows about that reference to other games section? The game's released (in USA, and Australia's release date is still about a month away...) =(

Hey, I have a screenshot of part of the game derived from a bigger picture. Should I include the whole picture of just the screenshot? 16:46, 8 June 2009 (EDT)
Boss changes?
WHERE IS IT CONFIRMED THAT THE ICE TAP-TAP THING IS A BOSS. if it's a boss then why isn't the chomp head a boss as well??? User:MarioMaster720
:The fact that it has the same 'Boss' music as Peewee Piranha? Perhaps? TheUltimateKoopa
perhaps you should try signing your comments? and the E3 Trailer didn't show the boss music. give me a link that shows the music & boss and i 'l' see. User:MarioMaster720
:E3 2009 trailer? Do you realise how old that is? There was absolutely NO music officially recorded for that game whatsoever, apart from the sequenced 'trailer' music. Watch this, and it will prove to you that it has "boss" music.--TheUltimateKoopa 14:05, 18 May 2010 (EDT)
@MarioMaster720 On the Japanese website it shows a TON of those chomps on a planet. AND it shows a Power Star in a cage on the same planet. Damariogamr

You should probably put just the screenshot unless the image contains more screenshots of this game which then you should take each screen and cut them seperately and upload them one at a time. --Count b 17:09, 8 June 2009 (EDT) Count b

Upside Dizzy
Which of these is Upside Dizzy, and whatever is Upside Dizzy, what is the OTHER one called?

Well if star bunnies appear than that could mean lumas appear to. .:yoshi:.
Is it the galaxy featured in this image:
:File:SMG2_Comet_Metal.png

Or the galaxy featured in this video:

They both have the whole 'gravity is determined by the background' thing going, exept the one in the picture has the gravity change automatically, where as the one in the video has the gravity changed via switches. Is the one in the picture an early version, or are they just different galaxies with very similar 'gimmicks', like Bubble Blast vs Bubble Breeze in Super Mario Galaxy, for example?

Again, if one is Upside Dizzy, which one, and therefore, what's the other one?--TheUltimateKoopa 13:36, 18 May 2010 (EDT)

Confirmed Galaxies
Confirmed Galaxies
Where exactly where those galaxies confirmed? Or are they just speculatively confirmed? - 13:49, 12 June 2009 (EDT)

Enemy Changes!!!
When i first watched this video: http://mynintendonews.com/2010/05/20/nintendo-wii-super-mario-64-level-featured-in-mario-galaxy-2/. I noticed an identical Giant Purple Piranha plant at 0:35 as the ones in Super Mario Galaxy. I checked the enemy list and Piranha plant article and it stood nothing about it so i added it on the enemy list. And by the way, Those enemies piloting Koopa Clown Copters look almost identical to the Undergrunt Gunners also from the First game. I won't add the Koopa Clown Enemy in the article, but the Purple piranha plant MUST be there. MarioMaster720

Sources
Listen people!! Now, EVERY SINGLE EDIT TO ADD INFO TO THIS PAGE MUST BE SOURCED, ELSE, IT WILL BE REMOVED. This goes for every edit, including names, galaxies, enemies, gameplay, history, images, etc... Thanks and keep contributing. -- 12:10, 21 May 2010 (EDT)
:Oh yeah! Don't BOTHER giving sources to the fact that Chargin' Chucks are in the game, even though they are NOT! And whenever I removed the "Unlocked by collecting x amount of comet medals" in the "How to unlock" part of Flip-Swap Galaxy WITHOUT SOURCES, you then continued to re-insert that part... again, WITHOUT SOURCES. Insisting that "Comet Medals unlock harder levels" meant entire galaxies, failing to see that the word "Comet" was in the name, thus OBVIOUSLY suggesting "Prankster Comets"--TheUltimateKoopa 08:00, 25 May 2010 (EDT)

Two Questions
The first one is, where is the proof of the names of the new bosses. And the second is, where is the Ice Flower?! I mean, every one power-up is returning!
:Maybe they removed the Ice Flower for some kind of reason. I think I know which reason. *checks New Super Mario Bros. Wii*
Why didn't the one who wrote the new bosses's names apply their sources. Like said in the "Sources" topic sentence: EVERY SINGLE EDIT TO ADD INFO TO THIS PAGE MUST BE SOURCED, ELSE, IT WILL BE REMOVED. So i will remove the bosses until someone can confirm that those are the official names. User:MarioMaster720
:Because you can't really put "the game" as a source, even though "the game" was the source. Well, to be exact, a live playthrough of the game. Whoever said it was called Mallettoid is an idiot. It's Megahammer.
--TheUltimateKoopa 20:03, 22 May 2010 (EDT)

New Bosses?
Okay, so I was on IGN.com, and it showed videos of new boss fights, their names, and the galaxies theyre fought in:

-Glamdozer looks like an obese clam-pig and is fought in Flipsville Galaxy.

-Pikante looks like the result of a 3-way crash between an electrogoomba, monty tank, and an undergrunt gunner and is fought in Shiverburn Galaxy.

-Squizzard looks like a <s>blargg</s> magmaargh covered with sand and is fought in Slipsand Galaxy.

-Lakitu is the name that appears for the obese lakitu (not sure if this is offical.)

-Sorbetti is the ice taptap creature and is fought in Freezy Flake Galaxy.

Not sure if the names are correct (Sorbetti, Pikante, Lakitu). We'll find out Sunday for sure. These are what I think they look like. Damariogamr

Also, where is their proof of Dino Piranha and all those other bosses returning in the game?
:I haven't seen Dino Piranha in the game yet, but Bugaboom appears in a galaxy in world 2. None of those other returning bosses are sourced, so it might not be true.
::Boss Blitz Galaxy, it has the five bosses from the first game. '

Um, it's PRINCE Pikante. See his page. And 'Lakitu' is actually Giga Lakitu. Again, see his page. PiranhaBomb

Stars?
Does anyone have a complete list of stars in order?
I did a list on another site (nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Mario_Galaxy_2), however, some of the main galaxies' normal (yellow/gold) stars are secret stars, but some are just a second normal star, and the galaxies with secret stars have a normal star, then comet star, then secret star (i.e. the comet star is 2nd), where as the other galaxies have a normal star, another normal star, and THEN the comet star as a third star. Also, every single galaxy has the same number of Green Stars as yellow stars, except Grandmaster Galaxy, which only has 2 (The Ultimate Test and The Perfect Run)--TheUltimateKoopa 14:19, 24 May 2010 (EDT)

UNDELETE THE GALAXY2BOX NOW!
Why did you have to delete the "galaxy2box" template you STUPID idiots? It's been up for about THREE MONTHS, and there was a freaking REASON for it! It was NOT an "exact copy of the galaxybox template". It had the word "World" instead of "Dome" for starters! --TheUltimateKoopa 07:40, 25 May 2010 (EDT)
:I'm sorry TUK but having two infoboxes on the same subject is slightly (very) redundant and that creates useless templates. If you notice a problem with the new template you are free to fix it, the page isn't protected is it? I believe you already have fixed it in fact! Now, the current problem does not seem like a problem to me anymore... Marioguy1
:Maybe you should have ranted here in the first place instead of replacing the page with your comment. And use appropriate language (this doesn't answer your question, but I'm telling you this).
:It's all right for now, all; I just noticed that because of this "rant", TheUltimateKoopa got a three month ban as the result -- primarily for flaming. And I can see why. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 03:50, 26 May 2010 (EDT)

Seriousley where is Toad?
Okay guys. I asked this question in the first archive. But now you played the game and all that, I can't see Toad, where is he?
:The Toad Brigade is in the game. They're Toads. I could be wrong, but there also might be some Toads in the game's opening as well.

UR MR GAY/ YA IM RU
On the Super Mario Galaxy discussion page it was said that the infamous "UR MR GAY" star boxart spelling should NOT be included in the trivia section, Recent SMG2 fans have noticed another "sexual" spelling in the boxart of Super Mario Galaxy 2 which normally says: UR MI AY, but if read backwards it says: YA IM RU which is translated to:            SMG: You're Mr. Gay?
SMG2: Yeah i am, are you?.
I'm 100% sure that CAN'T be a coincidence so i think that it deserves a mention in the trivia section. The first one was not mentioned because it could have been a coincidence, but this....Come on. Respond so i will know if i will add it or not. User:MarioMaster720

16:47, 15 June 2009 (EDT)

:If you see the trailer, Mario appears to be switching a "clock"-like switch with the spin jump that turns the environment color into gray, and everything moves slowly.
Dino Piranha, King Kaliente, Major Burrows
::The "switch that stops time" appears in the E3 trailer at 1:33. When Mario hits the switch, the screen goes black & white, and the platforms stop rotating. The part in the trailer is too short to find out whether the time actually halted or just slowed down.
Why does this keep getting changed back? During the game you have to battle Dino Piranha and King Kaliente four times, the regular mission, the speed run, and both green star mission. Major Burrows is three times, normal mission, speed run, and the second green star mission. Yes, you do have to battle them in order to make the launch star appear in order for you to get to the next planet so you can make your way to the green star, so stop removing this. --SinnohMasterGalaxy 23:58, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

:You do not have to do that for Green Stars. The Green Stars are scattered throughout the levels, but beating the bosses does not ever (as far as I know), actually give you a Green Star. That means you only have to beat them once or twice.

When the Baby Luma heads back to his home, he takes Mario's hat as a souvenir, which did make Mario feel shocked. Afterward, Rosalina and the Baby Luma return to the Comet Observatory, and the ship flies off.

Two things. The spinning mario kart like items boxes have at least one side with a red and black bowser face (like the ones in the red mushroom houses in the New Super Mario Bros Wii), a 1-up and gold coin. I guess you hit it and something randomly happens.
I saw a video that had the Baby Luma take Luigi's hat. Should it be changed to Luigi's hat instead of Mario's Hat??? 14:26, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Should we go ahead and consider it part of the 3-D series? Mario freak
This section is 99% accurate, but it says that  The intro to SMG2 is a continuation from the Grand Finale Galaxy from the first game. This is speculation, no? The Grand Finale Galaxy left off with Mario getting a Power Star right in front of Peach's castle, but when SMG2 starts, Mario is not here, and Peach invites him to the castle. The nattarater even says: "The Star Festival has comeAgain" (Well, he said something like" The star festival happens every hundred years, and that time has come again) Should this inaccurate information be deleted? ==Innacurate "New Enemies" Section?==
The "New Enemies" section of the page lists a number of enemies that have appeared in previous Mario games (Big Boos, Hammer Bros., and Whomps to name a few). Many of the enemies listed are ones that didn't appear in Super Mario Galaxy, but are certainly not new. If I am misunderstanding the purpose of this section and it is in fact for listing enemies that appear in a game that weren't in it's prequel then please let me know.--Kirbychu HR&#39;D 04:30, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
:I believe the section references enemies new to the Super Mario Galaxy series (i.e. not in the first game) and it is accurate on that count Alexfusco5
::Well then the section title should probably be changed. The current title suggests that the enemies listed are enemies new to the Mario series, and similar sections on other articles (Such as the "New Enemies" section on the page for New Super Mario Bros.) only use the section for that purpose. There should at least be a note saying that the enemies are new to the Mario Galaxy series and not the Mario series as a whole.--Kirbychu HR&#39;D

:::Oh yeah! Now I remember, I know exactly what you're talking about! But those things definitely aren't the same as the Red and Blue Platforms that appear in the Flip Swap Galaxy (and a few other galaxies). For one thing, they rotated at their centers, i.e. - not like hinges on doors like these ones, and if I recall correctly, those platforms are actually orange and blue, not Red and Blue, plus, they have wood on their centers, and therefore appear not to be made of metal, and they rotated independently of the player's control, and they are like 2x thicker than in SMG2, and they move around randomly and bounce into each other while flipping instead of remaining stationary, and they don't all flip at the same time, they alternate flipping (also, the two colors are not physically connected, though I think that was mentioned in the article already)...the point is, there's a world of differences here, why are we claiming they're the same things just 'cause they look slightly similar?

There is nothing on Nintendo.com, but on video game central.com it says the release is Febuary 10th 2010. == *enemies which first appeared in super mario galaxy? ==

Nintendo games in North America usually are released on Mondays and sometimes Sunday. If 10 Febuary 2010 is not on Monday or Sunday, it's most likely fake. In Japan and Australia, Nintendo games are released on Thuresday and in Europe on Friday. I hope this information might help.
Can I replace this with old enemies new to smg2 (i.e. hammer bro)? I think that is more significant than "*enemies which first appeared in super mario galaxy".
:In Europe it's always a Friday, true. I don't think they are lying about a release date, but they just put in a filler into their database. Until we get official confirmation, we shouldn't put anything in the article. - 14:08, 2 December 2009 (EST)

On Nintendo.com, you can put the games list in release date order. SMG2 of course doesn't have an exact release date(TBA), but it is between the games, "Glory of Heracles", which will be released Jan. 18, and "Shiren the Wanderer", which will be released on Feb. 9. Since it is between those games in release date order(besides the other TBA games) it may be released somewhere Jan 18th - Feb 9th. It might.
I mean Enemies hich have never appeared in the Super Mario Galaxy series, but have appeared in previous mario games. Such as, Hammer Bros and Fuzzies are not brand new enemies, but they are new to the SMG series.

Really a sequel
While it's true that many, even those at Nintendo, claim Mario Galaxy 2 to be a sequel, by definition, I don't believe Mario Galaxy 2 qualifies as a true sequel to the first game. Nothing in games makes reference to the first game, no events mentioned, the game treats it as Mario's first time in outer space, no Lumas recognize Mario. None of it lives up to the true definition of the word "sequel". I can provide some sources for this, based on the development of the game, though I can't say for sure if they count as truly reliable.

Recent Changes
http://www.infendo.com/super-mario-galaxy-2-not-a-true-number-2/
Let me just say, there isn't much info on this game, so I watch this site very closely. I couldn't help but notice that there were changes made (They were changed back) Were they just being stupid, or have they seen something I haven't? They mentioned dolphins as characters, a cheep-cheep mushroom and that there would be 7 Power ups and 5 Fruits for Yoshi. So tell me, why did they make this up, or is some of it true?--The Last Stop

:Then I supposed it was a vandal who wrote that.
And in the Iwata Asks about the game (http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/wii/supermariogalaxy2/0/0), Miyamoto even stats that the game was not named Galaxy 2 out of means for being a sequel, but more for the fact that more than enough new elements were put in to say it's not a follow up, but something almost new.

Bowser
So I simply ask; can it really be called a sequel by definition or are we going to list it off as a sequel based on the similar idea and name? I personally don't find it correct to call it a sequel if it doesn't really act like one.
Who put Bowser as one of the characters? He's not confirmed, and his statue might just be a cameo. Mr. Anon 23:43, 15 December 2009 (EST)
:Unless you want to start targeting every one of the series' sequels (NSMB to NSMB2, SMB to SMB2 to SMB3 to SMW, etc.), it seems rather pedantic to say that a game with a 2 in its title isn't a sequel. Say what you want about what Nintendo considers the game to be or whether or not it's substantial enough to warrant being separate, but the fact is that we got a game titled in a way that sequels are titled, so I'd rather apply Occam's Razor. Also, the game's numerous characters, abilities, items, aesthetic, and general gameplay are all incredibly evocative of its predecessor, so saying that nothing references the first game is rather misleading.
::I'm not saying nothing references the first game. Everything you listed is pretty much taken directly from the first game. I'm simply saying that stuff like the plot and how characters interact or react to one another don't support the game being a sequel. Though you have a point regarding the games you listed (NSMB2 has actually been called the direct sequel to the first NSMB if I recall and I believe some elements of Mario World's story do reference back to Mario Bros. 3), the only arguable one is SMB to SMB2, which don't really say the events happen directly after the other. Maybe I'm just complicating things, but I guess it could be simpler just to say it's a sequel to avoid confusion.
:::I'm pretty sure the reason Galaxy 1 isn't mentioned is because of it's ending. Remember that the universe recreated in that epic scene. Therefore, no one remembers Mario's previous adventures in space, except Mario and Rosalina, as they were in some sort of sanctuary watching the universe be recreated. And yes, this is the basis for a speculative theory, but while the theory itself cannot be mentioned on the wiki, the basis for it is pretty solid, I think. If this is too speculative, please disregard it at once. I guess what I'm saying is I would consider this a sequel, not least because of the 2 in its title.
::: 10:37, 7 November 2016 (EST)
::::Question, would not you consider Dream Team a sequel also because of its lack of continuity? Does a sequel need some continuity to be a sequel? 10:40, 7 November 2016 (EST)
:::::Going strictly by definition, a sequel is "A published, broadcast, or recorded work that continues the story or develops the theme of an earlier one." There are other definitions that fall more in line with what I discussed above, but this is usually the most common definition. The keyword there is "story": if a work doesn't follow the narrative of a preceding work, it can be argued that it isn't actually a sequel. Of course, I think that definition is too strict, especially for the wiki's purposes, but I'm playing devil's advocate. 11:55, 7 November 2016 (EST)
::::::Due to the lack of continuity in the Mario franchise, I don't think the definition Time Turner gives is valid. In this franchise, a sequel is a game succeeding another game with a similar name/theme. But even if it somehow does apply to the wiki, see my previous comment.
::::::: 13:14, 7 November 2016 (EST)

I noticed for galaxies that have both a secret mission and a prankster comet mission, the order of the missions here list the secret mission before the prankster comet mission. Yet, the images of the galaxies clearly show the secret missions after the prankster comet missions. This was not contradictory for the galaxy list for the prequel, which also listed the secret star mission or missions after both prankster comet missions on both the wiki and the in-game star list. I was just curious as to what prompted this and if it was necessary to change them? Also, could the missions be color-coded like the mission list for the first game? Broiler Boiler Galaxy

More will be revealed soon.
So, I understand that there isn't exactly a concrete definition for what counts as a planet or area, which leaves some room for interpretation. However, as I was looking through the planet/area counts in the galaxies table, I saw some that definitely aren't right... Seven in Spin-Dig Galaxy? Only FOUR planets in Battle Belt Galaxy? And SEVEN in Throwback??? I really don't see how that would be possible to think, assuming those were put in intentionally and not just typos. I would change these, but I'm not sure what I'd put in myself. Would the pipe rooms in Battle Belt count as their own areas, or not because they're just the interior of other planets? What about the underside of the Whomp's Fortress planet? Is that its own area? It has its own gravity, so is that enough to qualify? Twisty Trials Galaxy is considered to have four areas despite not changing gravity or ever using Launch Stars/Pipes/Teleporters/etc to go anywhere; the areas are all connected. Idk it just seems really messy to me and it should probably be addressed one way or another. ViableBunnyBudd (talk) 13:35, August 18, 2024 (EDT)
:For Super Mario Galaxy, the "reachable areas" parameter was conceptualized as "what is separated by Launch Star or Warp Pipe?" It is less about the literal number of planets because quite a few can simply be jumped between so it is not very contextualizing. I would revise these numbers with the same framework. Super Mario Galaxy 2 has not been scrutinized as much as its predecessor because that one was nominated for feature status. - Nintendo101 (talk) 20:34, August 18, 2024 (EDT)

I checked the enemy list and Piranha plant article and it stood nothing about it so i added it on the enemy list. And by the way, Those enemies piloting Koopa Clown Copters look almost identical to the Undergrunt Gunners also from the First game. New Bosses?[edit]

-Squizzard looks like a blargg magmaargh covered with sand and is fought in Slipsand Galaxy.

-Lakitu is the name that appears for the obese lakitu (not sure if this is offical.)

-Sorbetti is the ice taptap creature and is fought in Freezy Flake Galaxy.

Stars?[edit]

Does anyone have a complete list of stars in order? I did a list on another site (nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Mario_Galaxy_2), however, some of the main galaxies' normal (yellow/gold) stars are secret stars, but some are just a second normal star, and the galaxies with secret stars have a normal star, then comet star, then secret star (i.e. the comet star is 2nd), where as the other galaxies have a normal star, another normal star, and THEN the comet star as a third star. Dino Piranha, King Kaliente, Major Burrows[edit]

You do not have to do that for Green Stars. The Green Stars are scattered throughout the levels, but beating the bosses does not ever (as far as I know), actually give you a Green Star. That means you only have to beat them once or twice. Fawfulfury65

Refrences to other Games section[edit]

This section is 99% accurate, but it says that The intro to SMG2 is a continuation from the Grand Finale Galaxy from the first game. This is speculation, no? The Grand Finale Galaxy left off with Mario getting a Power Star right in front of Peach's castle, but when SMG2 starts, Mario is not here, and Peach invites him to the castle. The nattarater even says: "The Star Festival has comeAgain" (Well, he said something like" The star festival happens every hundred years, and that time has come again) Should this inaccurate information be deleted? Innacurate "New Enemies" Section?[edit]

The "New Enemies" section of the page lists a number of enemies that have appeared in previous Mario games (Big Boos, Hammer Bros., and Whomps to name a few). Many of the enemies listed are ones that didn't appear in Super Mario Galaxy, but are certainly not new. If I am misunderstanding the purpose of this section and it is in fact for listing enemies that appear in a game that weren't in it's prequel then please let me know.--Kirbychu HR'D 04:30, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

I believe the section references enemies new to the Super Mario Galaxy series (i.e. not in the first game) and it is accurate on that count Alexfusco5 (talk)
Well then the section title should probably be changed. The current title suggests that the enemies listed are enemies new to the Mario series, and similar sections on other articles (Such as the "New Enemies" section on the page for New Super Mario Bros.) only use the section for that purpose. There should at least be a note saying that the enemies are new to the Mario Galaxy series and not the Mario series as a whole.--Kirbychu HR'D
I think people realize the section does not pertain to the Mario series as a whole, since the returning enemies section features enemies found only in the first Galaxy. Mario4Ever (talk)

Like this...
Oh yeah!

Really a sequel[edit]

While it's true that many, even those at Nintendo, claim Mario Galaxy 2 to be a sequel, by definition, I don't believe Mario Galaxy 2 qualifies as a true sequel to the first game. Nothing in games makes reference to the first game, no events mentioned, the game treats it as Mario's first time in outer space, no Lumas recognize Mario. None of it lives up to the true definition of the word "sequel". I can provide some sources for this, based on the development of the game, though I can't say for sure if they count as truly reliable.

http://www.infendo.com/super-mario-galaxy-2-not-a-true-number-2/

And in the Iwata Asks about the game (http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/wii/supermariogalaxy2/0/0), Miyamoto even stats that the game was not named Galaxy 2 out of means for being a sequel, but more for the fact that more than enough new elements were put in to say it's not a follow up, but something almost new.

So I simply ask; can it really be called a sequel by definition or are we going to list it off as a sequel based on the similar idea and name? I personally don't find it correct to call it a sequel if it doesn't really act like one. Sprite of Yoshi's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tails777 Talk to me!Sprite of Daisy's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Unless you want to start targeting every one of the series' sequels (NSMB to NSMB2, SMB to SMB2 to SMB3 to SMW, etc.), it seems rather pedantic to say that a game with a 2 in its title isn't a sequel. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
I'm not saying nothing references the first game. Sprite of Yoshi's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tails777 Talk to me!Sprite of Daisy's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
I'm pretty sure the reason Galaxy 1 isn't mentioned is because of it's ending.

Going strictly by definition, a sequel is "A published, broadcast, or recorded work that continues the story or develops the theme of an earlier one." There are other definitions that fall more in line with what I discussed above, but this is usually the most common definition. The keyword there is "story": if a work doesn't follow the narrative of a preceding work, it can be argued that it isn't actually a sequel. Of course, I think that definition is too strict, especially for the wiki's purposes, but I'm playing devil's advocate. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 11:55, 7 November 2016 (EST)
Due to the lack of continuity in the Mario franchise, I don't think the definition Time Turner gives is valid. In this franchise, a sequel is a game succeeding another game with a similar name/theme. But even if it somehow does apply to the wiki, see my previous comment.

But you can argue that it's a sequel since it does "develop the theme of an earlier one". Within the scope of video games, there is little doubt this is a sequel. Mario (Santa)'s map icon from Mario Kart Tour Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 18:01, 7 November 2016 (EST)

Mixed up character descriptions[edit]

In the characters section, Captain Toad has Luigi's description, and Bowser has Captian Toad's. I'd edit it myself, but the page is locked for me.--LittleLum (talk) 21:41, April 22, 2019 (EDT)

Fixed, thanks for pointing it out. You should be able to edit semiprotected pages after two more edits. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 21:51, April 22, 2019 (EDT)

Placement of Secret Missions (barring Green Stars) vs Prankster Comet Missions compared to SMG1 and Color-Code the Missions[edit]

Thanks, --Crafty Potatoes (talk) 09:20, August 4, 2020 (EDT)

Edit: I noticed some stars did follow the pattern of putting the prankster comet mission before the secret mission, while others don't. I'll see if I can try to fix it or wait for someone else who can. --Crafty Potatoes (talk) 09:25, August 4, 2020 (EDT)

RIghtside Down Power-Ups[edit]

In the Power-up locations table, Rightside Down's Fire Flower is listed as only appearing in the Hidden Star. In-game, you have to use it in the first star of the level. Could someone please fix this? Thanks in advance. CjhMC (talk)

Just noticed that, Star 1 has been added to the table. Sprite of a Foton from Super Paper Mario. //ZAKU// (talk · edits) 13:11, March 27, 2022 (EDT)

We should try to make a clearer definition for "planet/reachable area"[edit]

For Super Mario Galaxy, the "reachable areas" parameter was conceptualized as "what is separated by Launch Star or Warp Pipe?" It is less about the literal number of planets because quite a few can simply be jumped between so it is not very contextualizing. I would revise these numbers with the same framework. Super Mario Galaxy 2 has not been scrutinized as much as its predecessor because that one was nominated for feature status. - Nintendo101 (talk) 20:34, August 18, 2024 (EDT)
