Unhappy Trails is an 8-Player minigame in Mario Party 7. Its name is a play on the phrase "happy trails."
Introduction[edit]
The camera shows the goal before panning over to the characters in the middle of the course, who wave, then the camera pans to the characters at the start, who are each given a key by a Goomba.
Gameplay[edit]
The objective of this minigame is to get a treasure at the end of the course. One player brings a key to their partner, who then runs to the treasure chest and unlocks it to get a jewel. The player who opens the chest must bring the jewel to their teammate, who then brings it back to the beginning of the path. Much of the course is crooked and narrow. If a player falls into the swamp, a Lakitu fishes them out and brings them back on the course. The first team to bring the jewel back to the start of the path wins. If no team does so within a certain time limit, the minigame ends in a tie.
Ending[edit]
The characters and the Goomba stand on the beginning island with the diamond they collected and do their secondary winning animations.
