LINE is a messaging app by Line Corporation that is popular in Japan and other Asian countries. The service is known for its distinct stickers that can be sent with messages. Nintendo has used this service by creating multiple different series of stickers based on the Super Mario franchise, as well as an official automated account known as Kinopio-kun. Line Corporation co-developed Dr. Mario World with Nintendo and NHN Entertainment for smart devices, and the game was released on June 9, 2019.

Stickers[edit]

Nintendo has released multiple official sets of stickers for use with the app. Each set costs $1.99 on the app's store page. All of the stickers in each set are animated, and feature voice clips or soundbytes of the sticker's subject, which play automatically.

Talking Super Mario Animated Stickers[edit]

This was the first set released. The set contains 24 stickers based on characters from the Super Mario series with the 2D art style of Shigehisa Nakaue.

Japanese versions[edit]

Super Mario Bros. 8-Bit Stickers[edit]

This was the second set released. The set contains 24 stickers based on sprites from Super Mario Bros.

Mario Kart Stickers[edit]

The stickers of the Mario Kart series was the third set released. The set contains 24 stickers based on Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and prominently features the Pipe Frame kart.

Japanese versions[edit]

Super Mario's Relaxing Life[edit]

This was the fourth set released. This set contains 24 stickers featuring various Super Mario characters, though in 3D rather than 2D.

Japanese versions[edit]

Yarn Yoshi & Poochy[edit]

This was the fifth set released. This set contains 24 stickers based on the Yoshi Theater shorts in Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, and was released on both LINE and the App Store for iMessage[1] on March 28, 2019.

Japanese versions[edit]

Wallpapers[edit]

Nintendo has released phone wallpapers in their account, many of which are themed after the Super Mario franchise.

Kinopio-kun is a Toad with a green-colored mushroom cap and a green vest. He is the mascot of Nintendo's LINE account. The account is an automated bot that will interact with messengers, depending on what they say to it.
