Pit is a young angel who first appeared in the game Kid Icarus. He will soon appear as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Pit is the leader of Palutena's bodyguard army, which consists of Centurions.

Super Smash Bros. Series
Pit was originally supposed to be in the original Super Smash Bros., but was replaced by Jigglypuff, in order to get more sales (Jigglypuff is from a much more popular series than Pit). He then made a cameo as a collectible Trophy is Super Smash Bros. Melee.

He will finally become playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Pit will be able to shoot light arrows that can be slightly directed, and will also be able to break his sacred bow of Palutena into two blades for some up close combat. He is shown to be able to jump multiple times like Kirby or Meta Knight, and to glide. Pit will be voiced by Minami Takayama. Pit's Side B, and Down B have not been revealed by the Dojo, but players at E For All reported that his Side B involves him spinning his bow like a treadmill, and that his Down B is Palutena's Mirror, which allows him to reflect any attack, even moves like Sonic's Spin Dash. However, Pit is still vulnerable to attacks from behind.

In the Subspace Emissary of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pit apparently joins the story early in the game. He sees the devastation of the Subspace Army's Subspace Bomb, and is sent by Palutena to go assist the other heroes in defeating the Subspace Army. He hurries down to the world, so he can help the other defeat the Subspace Army. He lands on a spot near the Halberd, and has to fight Primid that are appearing. He also finds Mario, transformed into a trophy. He awakens him and the two team up.

Snake Codec conversation
*Snake: Otacon, there's a kid with wings out here. Is he a mutant? Or is he just into costumes?
*Otacon: That's Pit, Snake. Pit is an angel from Angel Land. He's the captain of Palutena's Army.
*Snake: Angels. Give me a break!
*Otacon: I dunno, maybe he's from a different species. But those wings on his back and those mysterious weapons he has are the real deal. He may look young, but he's a veteran warrior. Watch yourself. He used to be a weakling, but countless trials over the years have toughened him up.
*Snake: And by trials, you mean, "Game Overs"?
*Otacon: Yeah, you should know all about that.

The Staff of Palutena
The Staff of Palutena is an item from the Kid Icarus series, created by Gunpei Yokoi for the Nintendo Entertainment System and GB. It is a bow forged by the goddess, Palutena given to the angel, Pit. The Sacred Bow of Palutena as it is called, can fire magic arrows of light, which is what his wristband holds, and can be taken apart to be used as twin blades.

Palutena gives her staff to Pit in the Subspace Emissary mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and is the main weapon that Pit will use in the game.

The head of Palutena's personal bodyguards, Pit traveled near and far to gather Three Sacred Treasures that would help him defeat the evil goddess of darkness, Medusa, and free Palutena, the goddess of light. Pit couldn't fly with his little wings; only the Wings of Pegasus let him take flight. Will Pit ever fight again?

The captain of the royal bodyguards of Palutena, goddess of light and ruler of Angel Land. The dark goddess, Medusa, conquered the underworld, the surface world, and the heavens, and imprisoned Palutena. Pit escaped and, armed with Palutena's magical bow, set out to free her. Along the way, he gathered Three Sacred Treasures with which he challenged Medusa.

Pit (Final Smash)
Pit's Final Smash. An image of the goddess Palutena appears, heralding the arrival of Pit's legions, the Centurions. These flying warriors proceed to attack all enemies with fierce savagery. Once a Centurion strikes an enemy, he falls from the sky, never to fly again. Centurions are so fast that dodging them is very hard. Take heart, Centurions! Your deaths are not in vain!

Trivia
* Pit made a cameo appearance in one of 9-Volt's games in WarioWare: Twisted! where the player had tilt the GBA to move Pit away from enemies the eggplant wizards would throw at him.
* Pit also appears in one of the orchestrated Microgames in WarioWare: Smooth Moves; he plays a cello.
