But other things with the same name but different appearances like enemies with new designs are the same article.  The Star Spirits are the same ones from Paper Mario and they are in the Mario Party series and slightly different appearances (no mouths).  So, who's to say this isn't the same Star Rod from Paper Mario but with an updated appearance?
