''Toad is a heroic little Mushroom Retainer - an attendant of the Princess - who was off visiting relatives in the Fungus Federation at the time of the Koopa War. When he returned home, he found a great many bricks and horsehair plants that reminded him of his friends who had gone missing along with his beloved Princess.''

''Toad was left on his own at an early age, and managed to survive on the streets of many magic lands by his quick wit and fast feet. He met the princess when he was delivering pizzas and attempting to sell encyclopedias to the Mushroom Kingdom Palace. She was so impressed by his eagerness to improve himself, that she got him a job in the royal kitchen. And when King Koopa took over the Mushroom Kingdom, and the princess was cast on the streets, Toad repaid her kindness by serving as her guide, loyal servant, and diplomatic adviser. He's not too sure the Mario Bros. know what they're doing, and often launches his own counterplan, which sometimes saves their hides, and sometimes, doubles their jeopardy. Toad is street smart, very bright and totally resourceful. All in all, he's exactly the kind of Mushroom you'd want guarding your flank in a [[fireball]] fight, or facing a clutch of snapping [[Piranha Plant]]s.
Lines in green are only present in the original writer's bible, while lines in red are only present in the DVD version.

This is the list of profiles and statistics for Toad.

Nintendo Character Guide (1993)[edit]

Toad a.k.a. "Little Toadie"
Toad is a heroic little Mushroom Retainer - an attendant of the Princess - who was off visiting relatives in the Fungus Federation at the time of the Koopa War. When he returned home, he found a great many bricks and horsehair plants that reminded him of his friends who had gone missing along with his beloved Princess.

Bio from The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 Writers Bible[edit]

Lines in green are only present in the original writer's bible, while lines in red are only present in the DVD version.

Toad was left on his own at an early age and managed to survive on the streets of many magic lands by his quick wit and fast feet. He met the Princess when he was delivering pizzas and attempting to sell encyclopedias to the Mushroom Kingdom Palace. She was so impressed by his eagerness to improve himself that she got him a job in the Royal Kitchen.

And when King Koopa took over the Mushroom Kingdom and the Princess was cast on the streets, Toad repaid her kindness by serving as her guide, loyal servant, and diplomatic adviser as they wended their dangerous ways through the multi-leveled Mushroom World.

Toad is street-smart, very bright, and totally resourceful. He’s fond of practical jokes and much more independent in mind and action than the other heroes.

He’s not too sure the Mario Bros. know what they are they’re doing and often launches his own counterplan which sometimes saves their hides and sometimes doubles their jeopardy.

He says things to both friend and enemy that most kids would like to say, but don’t have the courage. Toad is street-smart, very bright, and totally resourceful. All in all, he’s exactly the kind of Mushroom you’d want guarding your flank in a Fireball Fight or facing a clutch of snapping Piranha Plants.

Super Mario series[edit]

Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]

  • Wii Virtual Console manual: Toad has the shortest jump height of all characters, but he makes up for it with his strength. Carrying an item does not affect Toad's speed or jump height.

Super Mario Galaxy[edit]

ToadTradingCard.png
  • Trading card description: Toad is Princess Peach's closest confidant and sworn protector. Typically Toad is a happy character, as seen by the constant smile on his face. But now he has reason to be concerned. His beloved princess has been kidnapped by Bowser, and Toad will stop at nothing to help find her. Just when all is feared lost, Toad and his friends appear in their Mushroom-shaped ships and help guide Mario on his quest to save Princess Peach.
  • Prima Games Official Guide bio: Toad is Princess Peach's trusted confidant. Though its appearance calls to mind an infant's toy, the Quacker is really a fully functional motorbike with some serious acceleration. Flag Description (Wii U version)[edit]

Toad
One of the many Mushroom Kingdom Toads who serve Peach. Many of his fellow Toads are involved with running the Olympic Games, while others are participating in the actual events.

Miis' Dialogues (Wii U version)[edit]

  • Toads come in all sorts of colors, but share the same name. In general, they're rather serious little dudes, and also unfailingly polite.
  • Toads are the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom. They're all cute little fellas with what look like mushroom caps for heads. Most of them serve Princess Peach in her castle, though they're also helping to run things here at the Olympic Games. Talk about busy little bees!
  • The color of a Toad's head varies from individual to individual. You might think of it as a way of expressing a little bit of individuality. Those heads really are kinda cute, don't you think? I wonder if I can find a Toad-shaped hat somewhere...

Hey, that isn't a walking mushroom—it's Toad, Mario's loyal friend!

In a kingdom full of Toads, there is only one “Toad”—and he’ll point you to the right castle. He’s small in stature under that polka dot cap, but he has a huge heart and extremely speedy feet!
      [33]
    • Current:
The Mushroom Kingdom’s biggest helper is kind of small.

Mario’s loyal friend Toad has one of the friendliest faces in the Mushroom Kingdom. Toad may be small in stature, but he has a big heart!
  • Mario Tennis Aces Mushroom Kingdom Characters Quiz: Toad moves awfully fast for someone with such tiny feet. His speedy style makes up for his small stature.
  • Mushroom Kingdom Match-Up: Toad is everyone's buddy!
  • Who's Your Mushroom Kingdom BFF?: Toad's got a big heart (and tiny feet!), and he'll always try to point you in the direction of the right castle.

amiibo[edit]

  • Toads are the servants at Princess Peach's Castle in the Mushroom Kingdom. Toads give off a strong sense of peace, but are no strangers to adventure and kart racing. Most feature white heads with red polka dots, but there are other types as well, including Captain Toad, self-proclaimed leader of the Toad Brigade.

There's also another similar Toad known as Captain Toad! He's got the shape of someone that looks like they like adventure very much!

At times he also does things like helping Mario out and going on adventures with him.

The official home of Super Mario[edit]

Original bio[edit]

Toad is a resident of the Mushroom Kingdom who helps Princess Peach. He has lots of buddies who all look identical except for their different colored outfits. They’re all exceedingly cheerful hard-workers, too. Toad tries hard to protect Princess Peach from Bowser, but his small stature and tendency to flub things up usually force him to call on Mario for help.[34]

Current bio[edit]

A resident of the Mushroom Kingdom who works in service of Princess Peach. Toad has red spots on his head, though others of his kind come in a variety of colors.

Toad is very cheerful and loyal. He does his best to help Mario and Luigi in their efforts to protect the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser, even if he ends endangering himself in the process.[35]
