English Name[edit]
The sun was shining so the Yoshis began to happily sing. Out came the limbo Shy Guys, who kept the beat, while the Yoshis danced. And the Yoshis did so with more grace than you'd expect from a dinosaur.
-In-game text. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:04, 19 February 2018 (EST)
- The name of the article should maybe be "Shy Guy (limbo)" because the "limbo" part isn't a proper noun. Ray Trace(T|C) 18:49, 20 February 2018 (EST)
- I was thinking the same. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:23, 8 March 2018 (EST)
- You would keep the plural intact because they always come in pairs, though I'm not sure if this really counts as Bamboo Dancers' localized equivalent since Shy Guys in this context is probably just a general term for their broader species. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:52, 9 March 2018 (EST)
- Wait, it seems that on the side of the artwork, it is written in english. Does someone has the manual in which the page is included? FanOfYoshi (talk) 06:35, 30 August 2018 (EDT)
- It isn't in the original manual, so I would have to guess it's from Nintendo Power or some other gaming magazine. LinkTheLefty (talk) 07:40, 30 August 2018 (EDT)
- What about renaming the article into it Japanese romanization? It looks to be the actual english name, and some people would not know. -- FanOfYoshi 02:13, 29 September 2018 (EDT)

This proposal factors in foreign names; coupled with that and the instance of "Shy Guys" most likely being generic or broad, let's keep the title as Bamboo Dancers, which is already a perfectly understandable name anyway. LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:24, 17 February 2019 (EST)
- Update: It turns out that Nintendo 64 Game Secrets, 1999 Edition refers to them as "bamboo dancers" twice on page 113.
Lowercase, but it's a direct translation used more than once. LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:50, April 29, 2020 (EDT)"The bamboo dancers cart their poles up and down the course trying to trip Yoshi. The first few are easy to jump over and avoid, but later on their dances get more and more complex!"
"The final stretch is the most hazardous, with several groups of bamboo dancers and a couple of Flying Shy Guys. The final melon is suspended in a balloon where you’re going to jump. The final Question Mark Balloon hides Miss Warp #4!"
