More on Kooky from the show[edit]

Could we get a list on his inventions somewhere? In the article or in a subpage? No big hurry, but it would be nice. Even if it's here. GG445 Me! "...?" heiho!

I know a fair amount of his inventions, considering he's my favourite character. Most of the inventions were made in the cartoons though.Iggy is more of the inventor in the main series.Ludwigforsecond-in-command!

Image idea[edit]

BabyKooky.jpg

Can anyone thin of a use for this image, its of Kooky Von Koopa's baby form from The Adventures of Super Mario bros. 3 episode "Toddler Terrors of Time Travel". -- Sir Grodus

Is this him as a baby in the past, or transformed into a baby, but still taking place in the present? -- Son of Suns

Transformed into a baby, the same thing happened with Toad in the same episode, as well as Bowser, Mario and Luigi. -- Sir Grodus

You could put it in that episode's article. Or if there's significant content about Kooky in that episode, put it in the other appearances section with a brief synopsis. -- Son of Suns

Smart[edit]

"He's also known for being an evil genius too, and the smartest of all the Koopalings. In the games though Iggy replaces him in that title." In what game is Iggy smarter than Ludwig? This statement is baseless and poorly written. Should I take this out, or is Iggy smarter in some game I haven't played? GreenKoopa - Comments or questions? · :eekdance::

Where does anyting say that he is smarter than bowser jr? User:4DJONG/sig

@4DJONG: Logic and common sense. Ludwig is a super-genius inventor. Bowser Jr. is portrayed as a kid who wants to follow in his dad's footsteps. That has to be inferred though. Lemmy Koopa Fan (talk) P.S. I'm not saying you have no common sense just in case you thought I was.

You can't judge something like that. Knowledge of machines is not the only signs of intelligence. Alexander the great never invented anything, but is still considered a greater genius than most inventors in history. Also, Bowser Junior is an artist (painter), and artists are considered to be above techincal brillance in mechanics. For example, Leonardo da Vinci is considered more a of genius for his paintings than for his inventions. Saying that one is smarter than the other is like saying that all mechanics and inventors are smarter than all artists and strategists. One's intelligence may appear more pronounced, but that has more to do with the exclusivness of skill rather than smarts. However, I won't say whose smarter here. This is turning very quickly into a battle between fans, and it should stop right here before there is an all out edit war between Bowser Jr. fans and Ludwig fans. Bowser. Jr. Nutt (talk)

What does Bowser Jr. have to do with famous historic people? Anyway, the matter at hand is in what game is Iggy smarter than Ludwig. The answer... He's not smarter in any game. The Koopaling's smarts are never mentioned in any game. And about the Bowser Jr. and Ludwig, it's not the real world, it's Mario. Not to mention Bowser Jr. is very childlike... he's never shown any real signs of intelligence. Lemmy Koopa Fan (talk)

I'm not going to argue this much further simply because I know it will never end. Bower Jr. and Ludwig have nothing to do with historic people. I never said they had anything to do with them. I'm using a comparison of people we are all familiar with to make a point (its called ethos, look it up). And just because it's Mario does not mean that it does not abide by real interpretations of values such as intellegence, justice, love, and so on. Also, saying that a particular character is childish after a comment like that does not make any sense. ALL characters in Mario are childish. You can't say one is less intelligent just because they act with less maturity; there are plenty of really brilliant people in real life that are very immature. Finallly, as to the notion that there is no signs of real inteligence, Bowser Jr. single handedly orchastrated the Delfino Isle fiasco, which, compared to other schemes in the Mario universe that simply involve kidnapping the princess, was very devious, involving complex components such as fraud and blackmail. As to Iggy... you are right. There is no evidence that says Ludwig is smarter than him or vice versa. In reality, like you said, smarts can't be compared to eachother in these games, however that does not mean that their existance can be refuted. However, saying that one character isn't intellegent just because they are childish is foolish. This disscussion is about intellegnece alone; if you want to discuss childishness, create a new disscusion. Bowser Jr. Nutt (talk)

Do not be too Bowser Jr. fanboy, accept Bowser Jr. simply uses Stars to create his ridiculous robots, you can easily get some crap metal and transform it into a "WOW!" machine by using a Power STar, Shar Sprite, or Grand Star. Ludwig's inventions(from game and anime) do not use any of those cheats, so, go and cry somewhere. But I think BJ may be probably an artist due to his graffiti skills, but still he is not the "smart" of the group, he is a young child following his father's steps, and pretending to be the "favorited" one.--Phantoon 01:55, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Phantoon

Now who's calling who a fanboy here, hmm? Come on, that kind of logic won't get you anywhere on these boards. For all you know, the stars are only a power source and don't "WOW!" anything, and I would consider using the best rescources available as "intelligent design with high quality available materials" rather than "cheating". There is not enough interaction between Ludwig and Junior to be able to make the assumption that one is smarter than the other. They are in one game together, and they never interact once. I've never even seen any game text or game booklet that has them both mentioned in the same sentence. As for smart, artistry is creativity, and creativive thinking is considered the most important aspect for higher intellect. Wether or not anyone agrees that Junior uses his brush in any artistic sense is a different manner, as he's really only seen painting simple shapes without making anything really 'art'. But seriously, this isn't a flame thread. Let's stop this. Bowser Jr. Nutt (talk)

Yeah, I'm sure that painting triangles, circles, M's and shapeless blobs of goop on walls is very creative. saying that art, such as Bowser Jr.'s graffiti is above technical brilliance is like saying that random graffiti vandals are smarter that Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, etc. And is that really true? Also, I don't really think Phantoon and I were really flaming you, we were just trying to make a point. Lemmy Koopa Fan (talk)

This little argument was waged almost an entire year ago: please do not reopen it, for it is not helpful at all. These talk pages are for improving the articles, not squabbling and speculating. - Walkazo 10:41, 7 August 2011 (EDT)

In the magikoopa article it says Ludwig is a Magikoopa is this true and where does the source come from.Breakdancemario.gifM64FanBreakdancemario.gif

Sorry but anyone knows that Ludwig isn't a Magikoopa thers pelty of differences bewtween him and them:

1. Luidwig dosen't have Magikoopa clothes. 2. Magikoopas dosen't have shells and they also have glasses. The Last and final reason if that where do you see Ludwig riding a broom stick. Toonpatrolfav003 (talk)

Quotes[edit]

I have all of the Mario is Missing voices. Wasn't there one when he said "At last, the Koopa defense is at a very new dawn, no plumber can stop us! Soon, this north pole will be one giant koopa swimming pool!" or something along those lines? Also, I noticed on the Wendy page that seemed to show her tone as opposed to just copying what was in her speech bubble. If that happened, then why not show Ludwig's stereotypical "German" accent? If Wendy's quotes section showed her tone of the voices, then why not show Ludwig's accent from the voice clips? -signed KoopaGuy (Talk) a.k.a. ShyTroopa or JohnRoberts- 13:02, 1 September 2013 (EDT)

Well, Mario's quotes often have an a prefix, like-a this to-a emphasize his Italian accent. I'm-a sure you can do that-a with Ludwig.
Mario (Santa)'s map icon from Mario Kart Tour Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 13:06, 1 September 2013 (EDT)
True, but you have to keep in mind that voices weren't in all versions of the PC release. Since the speech bubbles weren't updated in the re-release to show the spoken accent, maybe it should just be noted that it sounds differently in the Deluxe version. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:17, 1 September 2013 (EDT)
You mean like how I added that Ludwig had a "German" accent in the Personality and Traits section? -signed KoopaGuy (Talk) a.k.a. ShyTroopa or JohnRoberts- 13:21, 1 September 2013 (EDT)
Yes, but perhaps with the audio differences noted in parenthesis after the written quote. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:58, 1 September 2013 (EDT)

Something that's been bugging me[edit]

"Mario Kart 8 describes him as a "showy anti-hero", referencing his arrogance and his cruelness, though his Japanese blurb, "showoff villain hero" shows that he is a show-off, and maybe he isn't all bad."

We know he is a show-off villain hero in the Japanese blurb. But the thing about being a showy anti hero has been there for longer. Now I must know if that was a mistranslation, or some other place that the person who added it got this from. Bowser Jr., in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.Triple K, Skye 20:54, 10 May 2014 (EDT)

I didn't write that lovely bit of crufty over-extrapolation, but the "showoff villain-hero" in the MK8 section was my attempt to translate 目立ちたがりの悪役ヒーロー medachitagari no okuyaku hīrō, which, as I said in the edit summary is more literally the "showoff villain-role hero", so the hero as far as the villains are concerned, but nothing really captures that eloquently. "Anti-hero" might be an earlier translation attempt, but it's no good because it means a hero who doesn't have the usual heroic qualities (i.e. a "villainous hero", so that'd be wrong too). The English bio from the NoE Nintendo Direct just calls him the "conductor of chaos", so that's no help either way. - Walkazo 20:01, 11 May 2014 (EDT)

German Name[edit]

Ludwig is a German name... Not a English one. This is fitting with the German "von" in his name.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 46.59.252.82 (talk).

So...uh... what's your point? Bowser Jr., in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.Triple K, Skye 22:11, 18 June 2014 (EDT)
I think his or her point is that the name translation box thing says "Ludwig, from the English name". PikaSamus (talk) 22:26, 18 June 2014 (EDT)
"English name" is there because that's what he's called in English speaking countries. Bowser Jr., in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.Triple K, Skye 13:22, 19 June 2014 (EDT)
I know that... PikaSamus (talk) 17:38, 23 June 2014 (EDT)

Are Ludwig's voice clips in Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. edition actually new?[edit]

There is currently an ongoing edit debate on whether David J. Goldfarb or Mike Vaughn should be indicated as latest portrayal for Ludwig. On the ground of Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition being released later, Mike Vaughn was left as only voice actor for Ludwig. However, his site on imdb (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1993995/?ref_=nmexst_exst_nm) doesn't include that game. Since it is based on the New Super Mario Bros. series, could that game be reusing the voice clips from New Super Mario Bros. Wii, like in the case of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U?--Mister Wu (talk) 13:54, 10 November 2015 (EST)

Ludwig's voice clips in P&D:SMB Edition are definitely by Mike Vaughn. However, his imdb page claims his voice clips are also used for Mario & Sonic at 2016 Olympics, while I think one of Ludwig's grunts was reused from Mario Kart 8 where David J. Goldfarb voiced him. Also according to this, another user got an answer from Vaughn that he didn't voice Iggy in MK8, while claiming that he voiced Ludwig in that game which we know to be false. SmokedChili (Talk) (Thoughts) 11:40, 18 November 2015 (EST)

I think it's definitely David Goldfarb who voicing Ludwig in the 2016 olympics game. In terms of sources, imbd is definetely not a good one. But Unless confirmation from an sure source, nothing tell us that it's really Mike Vaughn's or David Goldfarb voice clips that has been reused for this game. It's still unclear concerning this, since the only sounds heard from Ludwig is a grunt.

Ludwig, leader of the Koopalings?[edit]

I found this on Mario & Luigi Paper Jam boss battle with Larry and Ludwig. Larry speak at Ludwig naming it "boss". I will upload a image that show it. Do this confirm that Ludwig is the leader of the Koopalings?--LudwigVon Sig.png(TALK) 11:50, 4 December 2015 (EST)

That's what I want to say.--LudwigVon Sig.png(TALK) 11:55, 4 December 2015 (EST)

It's also been said he's the self-appointed leader: the reference was added here (linking to a YouTube video), although it said the others contested it, whereas by this point, I guess they're going along with it? - Walkazo 12:39, 4 December 2015 (EST)
If I'm not mistaken, in that moment when Ludwig's authority is debated Larry says he's fighting with him by his own free will, not because he's some kind of leader, so he probably still thinks Ludwig has some authority. By the way, before the first battle (that of the screenshot, not that where Ludwig's authority is discussed) begins, Larry calls Ludwig "brother", so this is a direct confirmation that the Koopalings are sibling (the SSB4 trophy was indirect if I remember correctly).Mister Wu (talk) 14:47, 4 December 2015 (EST)

The 30th anniversary books' bios of Ludwig von Koopa[edit]

In the same way that I reported the bios of Larry Koopa, here are the bios of Ludwig von Koopa from the 30th anniversary books, including a tentative translation that surely must be revised. Ludwig's name in the books is ルドウィッグ, so as expected, no surname here.

Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros.

Characters' pages bio
クッパ七人衆のひとり。頭脳派で目立ちたがり。
One of the Koopalings. Showoff of his intellect.

Super Mario Bros. 3 enemies section
W7のボス。魔法を放って攻撃してくる。ジャンプのたびに震動を起こす。
Boss of world 7. Attacks shooting magic [fireballs]. Causes earthquakes every time he jumps.

Super Mario World enemies section
せんべい山のボス。炎をいたあと、こうらに入って攻撃してくる。
Boss of Cracker Mountain. After spitting fire, attacks by retreating in his shell.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii enemies section
W7のボス。い足場を移動し、4方向に飛ぶ魔法を放ってくる。
Boss of World 7. While on a narrow moving platform, he shoots magic [fireballs] in 4 directions.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 enemies section
W5のボス。につかまり、高い場所から魔法攻撃を放ってくる。
Boss of World 5. After grabbing a chain, he shoots magic [fireballs] from an high place.

New Super Mario Bros. U enemies section
マシュマロうんかいのボス。3体に分身して攻撃してくる。
Boss of Meringue Clouds. He and his avatars attack in three.

Super Mario Memorial Book
出っ歯のような牙がかわいい。初登場時はジャンプで地震を起こす攻撃を使った。
Has a cute protruding fang-like tooth. In his first appearance, he attacked by causing earthquakes with his jumps.

Again, there is much work to do, especially regarding the bio, still it's interesting to see that his mountain in Super Mario World is actually called Cracker Mountain. Furthermore, now a pattern starts to appear: in the encyclopedia the bio talks about him and the enemies sections talk about his attacks, while the memorial book goes dental and talks about the first appearance.
Of course suggestion and corrections are more than welcome!--Mister Wu (talk) 22:10, 12 December 2015 (EST)

"Showoff of his intellect" sounds kinda awkward to me, I'd ask for better translation. SmokedChili (Talk) (Thoughts) 09:33, 17 December 2015 (EST)
It is horrible indeed. 目立ちたがり is show-off, while 派 is "faction, group", 脳 is "brain", and 頭 is "head", so it seems that the bio says that Ludwig is a show-off with regards to intellectual things, that he likes to demonstrate that his intelligence is superior.--Mister Wu (talk) 10:51, 17 December 2015 (EST)

Portrayals in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[edit]

Who voice Ludwig and Wendy in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam? Because Ludwig and Wendy's page implied it is David J. Goldfarb and Ashley Flannegan, but Mike Vaughn and Lani Minella's page say they voice them in Paper Jam. So, who voice Ludwig and Wendy?--LudwigVon Sig.png(TALK) 20:08, 14 December 2015 (EST)

The Koopalings' voice clips are taken from Mario Kart 8, this is why these two actors are indicated as the voices of Ludwig and Wendy instead of Vaughn and Minella.--Mister Wu (talk) 20:33, 14 December 2015 (EST)
So, the informations should be add on Goldfarb and Flannegan's page instead of Vaughn and Minella. I will make the change.--LudwigVon Sig.png(TALK) 20:37, 14 December 2015 (EST)

Paper Mario: Color Splash[edit]

Wasn't he confirmed for Color Splash? Can someone add a section for that? I don't know anything about his appearance, only that he was confirmed. Ultimate Mr. L (talk) 16:21, 7 September 2016 (EDT)

That's the problem: we only know he will be in, on a warship, but at the moment have very little information. We should focus on Iggy before him, probably.--Mister Wu (talk) 16:32, 7 September 2016 (EDT)
Oh, so you know about as much as I do. OK, forget I said anything. Thanks. Ultimate Mr. L (talk) 16:45, 7 September 2016 (EDT)
Well, in the end I needed to start adding the bios from the 30th anniversary books, so I added the Color Splash section as well.--Mister Wu (talk) 17:23, 7 September 2016 (EDT)

Differences between the Japanese version and the Englsih version of Paper Mario: Color Splash[edit]

Two Japanese videos showing the battle with Ludwig indicate that some parts mentioned in the Personality and traits section have apparently been added by the Treehouse team: in particular, all references to classical music don't appear at the beginning of the battle (suggesting that NCL still doesn't consider Ludwig a composer of classical music) and Ludwig is not called Your Evilness by the Paratroopas. The only confirmed parts appear to be Ludwig designing the Super Ludship and his line at the at the end, after being defeated. These are the two different parts I'm mentioning:

BEGINNING OF THE BATTLE

さあ、 戦闘開始だ!
スーパー·ルド号の 高い攻撃性能を
とくと 味わうがいい!

PARATROOPAS' INTRODUCTION

…サザ……
……ガーッ…
…ラジャー!
パタバたい 2き、
ルドごうの ぜんぽう
じょうくうに とうたっ!
マリオに
こうげきを かいしします!

Am I reading this correctly?--Mister Wu (talk) 22:43, 14 October 2016 (EDT)

Yes, no reference to "his evilness" there. Also, Ludwig has switched to キミ kimi as the second person pronoun from オマエ omae. SmokedChili (Talk) (Thoughts) 04:03, 15 October 2016 (EDT)

Cast roll sprite[edit]
