*Given how they get more common after the first and second missions in Haunted Towers, it seems likely these plants are escaped laboratory experiments that have escaped to take over much of the building.  This can be seen by how their first appearances are in a glass tube in the Gardener's Lab and in the Plant Nursery.

Flytraps[1] appear as enemies in the Luigi's Mansion series, where they are large, man-eating creatures.

History[edit]

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon[edit]

In Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, flytraps are found in the Haunted Towers and Treacherous Mansion. They attack Luigi and do about ten HP of damage by swallowing him whole when they see him. They can be stunned for a brief time with the Strobulb, but they are otherwise unaffected by Luigi's normal means of attack. To defeat them, Luigi needs to pull a spiky fruit off a nearby plant by using his Poltergust 5000 and shoot it at the plant, which then eats it and dies. In the Treacherous Mansion, the same strategy can also be used with a burning chicken to get 20 bills (100G) upon killing one of these plants in the Kitchen.

Luigi's Mansion 3[edit]

In Luigi's Mansion 3, flytraps appear exclusively during the battle against Dr. Potter, where they can be defeated by cutting their stems with a buzzsaw.
