We're kinda having a mini-edit war about whether to call Luigi with the Super Leaf Raccoon or Fox Luigi. #Walkazo - It doesn't make sense to call a fox a "raccoon", and I'm sure Nintendo will figure that out too and officially call him "Fox Luigi" sooner or later. But in the meantime, why wait? I agree that it's best to wait until more information becomes available before we change it, but if all else fails I'd motion for "Tail Luigi" to play it safe. The reason being is that if none of the above names are official, at least we'll have the Japanese name to fall back on. Both are a bit of a misnomer; Raccoon Mario and Tanooki Mario are at least supposed to be different animals (at least in the American naming convention - I'm pretty sure they were both meant to be raccoon dogs), but kitsune literally is the Japanese word for fox so that seems more redundant. "Tail-" is also how the Super Leaf transformations was translated for 3D Land's enemies. Don't know why so many people are heckbent on calling Raccoon Luigi Fox Luigi because he has fox ears and a tail. I don't see anyone calling Superball Mario "Super Mario that throws balls". Are we going to call Luigi's Raccoon form in SMB3 "Fox Luigi" too? DonnyKD (talk) 16:53, 27 August 2012 (EDT)
:And I don't know why so many people are insisting on calling him Raccoon Luigi when he doesn't even have those features anymore. He is called Raccoon Luigi in SMB3 because he uses the same design as Raccoon Mario. They both have raccoon features. Here, they don't. Since Nintendo decided to redesign his Tanooki form and rename it Kitsune, I don't see why the same couldn't be done for his new Super Leaf look. Both names seem to be equally conjectural today since no official sources states otherwise, so why not go with the most suitable? == Sequels ==
Even though it is pretty obvious that NSMB and NSMBW are the sequels to this game, Nintendo have released videos on eShop claiming that Super Mario Bros. 3 is the direct sequel to this game. Shouldn't we mention it in the article. 01:57, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
*I see alot of errors in your comment there. Also:
"It's the thirteenth title in the main Super Mario series, the eighth title to be a Super Mario Bros. installment, the third in the New Super Mario Bros. line after New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS and New Super Mario Bros. Wii for the Wii and the sequel to New Super Mario Bros." DonnyKD (talk) 02:39, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
:I am not joking, trust me. A video on Nintendo eShop was released yesterday proving that Super Mario Bros. 3 is the "direct" sequel. It claims that it is the rightful successor. Since the video was only released yesterday, I cannot find any YouTube video for you, however I urge you to check the Recommended Videos in eShop. Let's put it this way, on the UK version of eShop all I said can be proved. And even though the bolded part you copied and pasted for me contradicts this, it was the very reason why I borught it up in the first place. 02:48, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
::When they said SMB3 was the "direct" sequel, they were referring to the fact that it has things like the Super Leaf, Wooden Blocks, and such. NSMB2 is the direct sequel to NSMBDS, and NSMBW and NSMBU are not only direct sequels to each other, but follow-ups to the portable games. You could say that NSMB2 is SMB3's spiritual successor, but direct sequel? Not likely. DonnyKD (talk) 03:55, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
:::Well if you put it that way, I suppose you're right. Although I still think a mention would be an idea, at least in the Trivia section... 05:01, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
== Add On Content == | |||
Before NSMB2 was released, there was an icon on eShop representing Add On Content however no info was given. Having said this, the official website states that new stages for Coin Rush can be purchased and received via SpotPass. Here's the link: Skip to the second paragraph. 05:21, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
*According to the e-manual, the DLC will be purchased in-game by a shop in Coin Rush that will be opened soon, and we will get a SpotPass notification when it opens. Also, you can't buy individual stages, just packs of 3. Hope this helped!
::This can get a little confusing before the DLC is released, but I will create a short paragraph so we don't forget about it. Thanks, 03:12, 25 August 2012 (EDT)
== Collection Notices ==
Should we add the notifications that pop up when you recieve a certain of Coins? If so, let's have a thing at the top of the section that says "Note: All notifications not shown state "You collected XXX coins!" and just show the ones that appear on the title screen (they are different). So...should we do this? Mario3D64 (talk) 16:43, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
:As of now I don't have the game so I don't know what you're referencing, but if it's something of importance that is exclusive to this game, then go ahead and add it. 03:20, 25 August 2012 (EDT)
== Glitch Page == | |||
I just found a glitch while I was playing that I would like to add to a glitch page.
:What is the glitch? If you would be kind enough as to explain the steps to perform it I'm sure another owner of the game will be happy to confirm it and allow you to add it. Otherwise, you can simply take a video or screenshot of it or find one over the Internet to prove the glitch. Unfortunately I cannot verify it for you myself since my copy hasn't arrived yet. 16:22, 25 August 2012 (EDT)
I have made a video of the glitch. It's not uploaded yet, but I can do it later. It doesn't have as much quality as some other pieces of media on Super Mario Wiki, since I don't have any idea how to do that.

| |||

| |||
::That's great Flipthenote! Feel free to add it any time you want to. As for a reference, a single screenshot of the Koopa stuck is more than enough to prove it, so long as a description can accompany it. As for the quality for the picture, you will need a decent camera and good lighting, but don't make it overly bright. Just centre the camera and rest it on a table and click the shoot button without too much shake and rumble. Screens are tricky to shoot but if anyone else knows a better method than please help us. If there is no other solution, then that should be good enough. And you're quite the glitch finder, I have to say! 03:08, 26 August 2012 (EDT)
Does the glitch page have to be a subpage of this one?
:No a new page must be made to keep an order like all other articles. You can place a link on this article under the Beta Elements. If you need help in creating the page or anything else, don't hesitate to ask :) 15:22, 26 August 2012 (EDT)
::Hey I also noticed this glitch, however sometimes Goombas will move straight up in a line untill one block from above and walk fartherover the Bricks. If you don't get what I'm saying I can try to explain more clearly.
:::If you could provide a video or screenshot as Flipthenote did it would be very helpful. Once it is verified, it can be added to the Glitch page. 10:34, 29 August 2012 (EDT)
I have found that Goombas can get stuck too. This way they 'follow' Mario. The P-Switch under the first Moon Coin must be pressed this time, and go to the left careful not to get a Goomba on the screen. When the P-Switch is about to wear off Mario must get a Goomba on screen. If done correctly the Goomba is stuck and is 'following' Mario.

== What is this for? == | |||
The article says: | |||
:Before the events of the game, Mario and Luigi visit Princess Peach in her castle to talk about their adventures together. Sooner, they leave the castle by flying away in raccoon suits, happily collecting coins in the air. However, as soon as they land, the Koopalings suddenly appear, crashing their Koopa Clown Car onto the ground, as well as damaging the brothers, making them lose their raccoon power-ups. Roy Koopa reveals Princess Peach from his back. They soon flew away in their Koopa Clown Car, and Mario and Luigi chase after them.
It's a bit weird that Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach are bolded. Also, Koopalings is in italic. Why is that there?

Luigi Is In![edit]
Nintendo's Official Facebook states that Luigi will appear in this game. They also mention "other favorite characters" too, but I know thats too broad.
Heres the link:[1]
The preceding unsigned comment was added by M4R10 BR0S (talk).
they might be making sound exciting but we have to have official notice for luigi, some kind of picture or artwork or text.YoshiGo99
Yes, the official Nintendo Facebook page has text, but you have to be logged in and like the page to see it. Their post reads "This just in - New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be launching for Nintendo 3DS in August! This all-new, side-scrolling adventure features Mario, Luigi and all your fave characters from the Mario series. Are you excited to play?"

Gold Mario[edit]
What does gold mario do? Is it sort of like invincible mario?

- We've only seen screenshots so far, so we don't know yet.
MrConcreteDonkey 14:20, 21 April 2012 (EDT)
- That's a good question and in fact I think that actually it's invincible Mario (he is multicolored in this form and one of these colors is gold).
- I think it is either a super guide, or a new powerup (possibly like White Tanooki Mario). i dont think its invincible mario, as that is too solid and shiny, plus there are golden enemies. --~ I'm Purple--Koopa--Bro. And I approve this sandwitch! ~
- I think that it should not be put in the article unless we have it confirmed. I'm removing it for now, and if we do get some evidence that it is a power-up, I'll be fine with having it there. RandomYoshi( • PMs • ) 05:15, 22 April 2012 (EDT)

NSMBW is NSMB2?[edit]
I want to make it clear. NSMBW was officially called NSMB2? (I mean if Nintendo itself has declared the NSMBW can also be called NSMB2) or just an alternate title from not-official media? ¢oincoll€ctor
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii is the original follow-up of New Super Mario Bros. (which actually toke place some unknown amount of time after the events of Super Mario Galaxy), and I also believe it was known as New Super Mario Bros. 2 too. But everyone should know this; sometimes, developers change the titles before the release. It should have been named Super Mario 2D Land instead. By the way, despite the name sounding like a sequel, I really doubt New Super Mario Bros. 2 would take place right after New Super Mario Bros., making the game occuring before the events of Super Mario Galaxy. It is set to follow the events of Super Mario 3D Land.--Prince Ludwig 06:09, 23 April 2012 (EDT)
- Actually I was looking for a simple answer, and your reply is more deducible rather than factible (something that I see with the users who created the redirects for the NMSBW article), therefore it's still unclear because you haven't said if Nintendo said that NSMBW was ever called NSMB2.
- Since it was a follow-up, it was always known as New Super Mario Bros. 2 by fans because New Super Mario Bros. Wii was the game's sequel. There's no source that Nintendo says it was called 2. So, it was never called New Super Mario Bros. 2 by Nintendo. But there's the real official New Super Mario Bros. 2 now (which could have its title changed at any time before the release because that name is very suited for a possible new Super Mario game based on Super Mario Bros. 2 and BS Super Mario USA, darn it).--Prince Ludwig 17:26, 23 April 2012 (EDT)
- If that's the case, we should avoid that NSMBW is also called NSMB2 and add information to the article based on that because it's not official.
Uh-huh. You got it. ;) --Prince Ludwig 15:00, 24 April 2012 (EDT)
NSMBW is not a sequel to NSMB, rather, a follow-up for the Wii console (obviously). Fans call it NSMB2 because it's the second installment the New Super Mario Bros. sub-series. They just add numbers to the titles of sub-series' installments that only have up to 1-2 follow-ups. (Example: PM:TTYD = PM2). However, "this" NSMB2 is considered NSMB2, because this is the 2nd NSMB game to be on a handheld. I can see why you're totally confused though. xP.--UM3000
- I was talking about the chronology--when those games actually toke place. I am not confused, and you didn't understand what I meant. However, I did understood what you said now.
- And yes, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is after the events of New Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Galaxy, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 would have to be after Super Mario 3D Land, not directly after the events of New Super Mario Bros. because it has a 2. It was the same for Super Mario Bros. 2 since it wasn't a direct sequel to Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. Those games are all the Super Mario series installments after all. It doesn't matter if they are on a handheld or a TV console. The chronology of the Super Mario series is not like Zelda's at all.
- I know that it's the second New Super Mario game on a handheld console. It's quite obvious. And despite that, it chronologically takes place after the events of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It's not an alternate version of New Super Mario Bros. Wii or something like that.--Prince Ludwig 10:04, 28 April 2012 (EDT)
- There is no chronology in Mario as there is no Mario timeline, sorry. - Ericss 13:43, 1 May 2012 (EDT)
there was a redirect of NSMBW that was NSMB2. I think NSMB2 is just a beta name, such as super mario 3D=Super mario 3D land. Loves There's no way we would forget about a beta name, especially now. We still remember that Super Mario 3D is Super Mario 3D Land, and the things about some games that were recently released. Before was different, because the wiki was a lot different itself too, then there were lots of changes later, and the changes turned the wiki like the way it is now. So, there are things from between the classic and modern Mario sources that are forgotten or nowhere to be found again. But, there are still official sources of the classic Mario elements, fortunatly. And yes, Ericss, there is, in fact, a Mario chronology/timeline. So, don't appologize.--Prince Ludwig 16:32, 1 May 2012 (EDT)

Scuttle Bug[edit]

NSMBMii or is it NSMB2[edit]
New Super Mario bros. Mii was a TEST, right, a DEMONSTRATION. So..mabey NEW Super Mario bros. 2 and New Super Mario bros 2 are the same game! Think about it, no person would make a game from scratch and not use the technology. Mabey The NEW SUPER MARIO BROS 2 is the final version. It IS a coincidence that a year after they made the demo that a NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. was anounced, there is also the posobility of it being on the WiiU and the 3ds like MARIO AND SONIC series. So look up some info.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lcc98 (talk).
Games have been made purely for hardware demonstation that were not released. That's why they're called Tech Demos. Additionally, New Super Mario Bros. Mii was a Tech Demo for the Wii U to demonstrate High-Definition gameplay. And the Mario game currently in development for the Wii U is based off of the tech demo. There have been no links so far to the Wii U and 3DS Mario games upcoming, so currently they are acknowledged as seperate games. There is no information you have made that is a solid fact, so it is speculation. Please save this speculation for the forums. mariofanatic64 (talk)

Fox Luigi?[edit]
I couldn't help but notice in the gallery Raccoon Luigi is labelled Fox Luigi. I can see why, but was this name confirmed? KoopaKiller13 10:12, 5 July 2012 (EDT)
Well, in Super Mario 3D Land he looked like a fox but was still called Tanooki Luigi so he is probably called Racoon Luigi--LuigiBlubber 17:13, 5 July 2012 (EDT)
- In other languages, he really was called Kitsune Luigi. Even in Japanese, he is known as Kitsune Luigi respectly. There's no doubt that Raccoon Luigi will be respectly known as Fox Luigi. Except in Japanese because that would be Tail Luigi. But, in order to undo some confusions whether he turned into a fox/kitsune or a raccoon/tanuki which looks just like a fox, it's for the best to start calling him Fox Luigi and Kitsune Luigi.--Prince Ludwig 17:21, 5 July 2012 (EDT)
But what if that's not his official North American name? Last time I checked, the only thing we labelled with foreign names were games that came out in Europe before all other continents. When it comes to characters, items, forms, etc., we use American names, correct? KoopaKiller13 18:18, 5 July 2012 (EDT)
- We did used some titles in other languages than American too. We mostly use "Super Mario All-Stars - 25th Anniversary Edition", instead of "Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition". We can keep the article's title Raccoon Luigi (it's just an example but Raccoon Luigi surely wouldn't be the article's name though). But it won't hurt to write Fox Luigi and Kitsune Luigi everywhere else, right? It's kind of similar. Americans really need call him Fox Luigi and Kitsune Luigi, because that would cause such a terrible confusion. I'm pretty sure that most people outside this wiki will seriously call him Fox Luigi and Kitsune Luigi. But it can't be helped.--Prince Ludwig 23:36, 5 July 2012 (EDT)
White Raccoon AND White Tanooki Mario?[edit]
In the forms section, both White Raccoon and White Tanooki Mario/Luigi are listed but regular Tanooki Mario/Luigi isn't. I read the source and I believe the artwork is from Super Mario 3D Land, so I think what's in the article is a typo. Also, if the Invincibility Leaf gives the brothers the White Raccoon form, what would give them the White Tanooki form? KoopaKiller13 00:50, 12 July 2012 (EDT)
- I got the source from My Nintendo News, so I'm not entirely sure that White Tanooki Mario's in the game. DonnyKD 02:10, 12 July 2012 (EDT)

Gloomba, or something like it.[edit]
If you look at some of the E3 playthroughs, when Mario jumps on the undead goomba, you will notice that a gloomba, or something like it (considering Gloombas are based on the NES underground goomba coloration, this may be a similar reference) falls of screen, meaning that it may not be a skeleton goomba, but a goomba wearing a skull on it's head. -Chaoxys

A Japanese trailer shows at the end that 5-3 is the sky level that was a grassy castle exterior level, and it might show that World 5 might be the sky world (possibly, we don't know for sure). And The American website shows that 3-1 is the Cheep-Cheep level, 2-Ghost House is the level with the Mega Boo. And Fire Snakes were confirmed to be in the game a while ago (I think 2 weeks), but haven't been added into the article. In fact, they were in several trailers. And one of the pictures in the American website show that 2-3 (I think 2-3) is a level with Spike Tops. (I could make out what they looked like) Smithuser (talk)
Info concerning the worlds[edit]
As seen here [8](simply scroll down to the third video and go to 02:00) NSMB2 has 6 main worlds and 2 secret worlds, like in NSMB, although in this one, the main worlds are numbered from 1 to 6 and the secret worlds have a ?. As I also found out, the first secret world is called W-Mushroom, and it´s a pink world with white outlined Mushrooms in the background, with a few levels, many Toad houses and a castle, where Larry Koopa is the boss. You get there, if you complete the Dash Mario level in world 1. Also the fourth world is the snow world. [9] (The fourth video) selfpeelingbanana (talk)
More and more information[edit]
Morton Koopa Jr is the boss of world 4, which is a snow world and the 5th world is a mix between sky and mountain worlds.Could anybody please update the NSMB2 site with all the new information rolling in? selfpeelingbanana (talk)
- You really should back your information up with valid sources, otherwise it can't be put into articles. Marioguy1 (talk)
- Oh yeah sorry, I forgot. I put valid sources in my other entry at least :P selfpeelingbanana (talk)
Enemies[edit]
I was expecting Chain Chomps, Monty Moles, and Venus Fire Traps. Any sign of them being in the game? YoshiCookie (talk) 10:15, 10 December 2015 (EST)
There was just a glimpse of Chain Chomps being seen in one of the websites, I think the NA one, where it could just barely be seen in the Gold Block power-up video. Not sure about the others, though. MarioComix (talk) 18:58, 28 July 2012 (EDT)

NEW artwork[edit]
In the just released Japan version of the game there was a small tricks and attacks poster similar to Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 3d Land. Images include Mario carrying a koopa shell and Luigi in a bubble. it also came with a mini poster similar to the one in the new super mario bros wii trading card tins with solo art of silver Luigi, broken blocks, buzzy beatles and pirahna plants, it all takes place in an under ground level. And the Back of the cover is slightly different than the US back cover. I'll have More info...

Something to be added to the trivia section[edit]
Whenever Mario is in Raccoon form, a musical beat is added to the background. It's done similarly to the drum noise that plays when riding Yoshi in most games. --KirbySuperstarUltra (talk) 16:11, 29 July 2012 (EDT)
Order of Worlds[edit]
Shouldn't the worlds (and their bosses) be listed in the order they're accessible? World Mushroom is accessed from World 1 as an alternative to World 2 and World Flower is accessible from World 3 as an alternative to World 4. Pokemega32 (talk) 10:04, 30 July 2012 (EDT)
Release[edit]
It appears that Italy gets it later than the rest of Europe. Why is that? Usually the delay is because of the multitude of European languages that the game needs to be finished translating into, but usually it's on the same day in all of Europe... Pink_Boozooka I know I'm nitpicky, but shouldn't Italy's date on the list come right after the rest of Europe, considering it's in the same region?

Grand Undead Goomba[edit]
Is there a giant version of an Undead Goomba?
Electrical Bowser jr. (talk) 08:42, 4 August 2012 (EDT)Electrical Bowser jr.
No there's not, neither a Grand Goomba. Only Super Undead Piranha Plants which I think appeared in Mushroom-Castle. YoshiGo99 09:17, 4 August 2012 (EDT)
There kind of is because, in new super mario bros. one of the bosses was a big goomba, and the grand goomba is a boss, and last in super smash bros brawl there is an enemy specificily called “giant goomba”.

Fire Bro.[edit]

- There is, Level 6-3. [10] at 8:37, there's about 5 of them in that one level.
- I hope this clears the confusion, I've been researching the disapearance of Fire Bros for days and looked at Streetpassdubai's videos, Ultimatepisman's videos, and GameXplain. However, 6-3 was never shown, UltimatePisman showed 6-2.

- Its not a problem, and your welcome. I refused to work on my project on Zelda Wiki, until I found a Fire Bro. because I couldn't believe that they weren't in the game. So its glad to see this case solved. As such, I don't know if we have every enemy listed? The ones I'm unsure about are Blooper variations, Blooper Nanny and Blooper Baby. I haven't checked for them yet, but since they appear in both NSMB and NSMBW, I would think there could be a chance for them to appear. Also, I love your videos.... I was trying to find a Bonecoaster video to see what it was like compared to NSMBW :) --XXSuperXXNintendoXx (talk) 02:13, 10 August 2012 (EDT)

Fox Luigi or Raccoon Luigi[edit]
This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal. |
fox luigi 12-9
We're kinda having a mini-edit war about whether to call Luigi with the Super Leaf Raccoon or Fox Luigi. I'm kind of leaning towards Fox Luigi, as similarly Tanooki Luigi is officially called "Kitsune Luigi" and it says Luigi has a fox's ears and tail on the website.
Proposer: Technickal (talk)
Deadline: August 28, 2012, 23:59 GMT
Fox Luigi[edit]
- Technickal (talk) Per above. (EDIT: Also per Red-CyanToad)
- Mario3D64 (talk) What he said.
- Red-CyanToad (talk) Luigi looks more like a fox than like a raccoon. The Gold Mario / Silver Luigi power-up has also different names for Mario and Luigi.
- JORDAN DEBONO (talk) Per Red-CyanToad.
- Prince Ludwig (talk) Sorry, got to agree that it should be Fox Luigi, like Tanooki Luigi should be Kitsune Luigi or Kitsoone Luigi.
- Luigi-San (talk) Clearly looks more like a fox than a raccoon. Wouldn't make sense to call him a raccoon when he isn't even one!
- New Super Yoshi (talk) Per all.
- Ange34 (talk) It was Raccoon Luigi in SMB3, but since Nintendo decided to change his appearance I believe Fox Luigi is a better fitting name today.
- MarioSmasher (talk) This is the newest, latest official name and we don't keep the old one just because "ITZ MOAR POPULARZ ZO WE KEEP THE MOAR POPULARZ ONE INZTEED OF MOVING TO TEH LATEZT NAMEH". Not only, the tail and ears make him really look like a fox, not a raccoon.
- Lord Grammaticus (talk) Per Luigi-San.
- yoshiyoshiyoshi (talk) Per Lord Grammaticus
- Walkazo (talk) - It doesn't make sense to call a fox a "raccoon", and I'm sure Nintendo will figure that out too and officially call him "Fox Luigi" sooner or later. But in the meantime, why wait? No one else on the Internet has: Googling "Fox Luigi" results in four times the amount of hits that "Raccoon Luigi" nets, and it's in our best interests to cater to the search traffic.
Raccoon Luigi[edit]
- Raven Effect (talk) While I think he's a fox he's never officially been called fox luigi in America so the best option is to wait for the Prima guide to come out and clear this up.
- Comp52 (talk) It seems silly to me to call Mario's transformation "Raccoon Mario" and call Luigi's transformation "Fox Luigi". We should just use the same name. If it bothers some people, we could put in a note that another name for it is Fox Luigi, but otherwise...Yeah, Raccoon luigi.
- DonnyKD (talk) Having different ears and tails isn't the time for a name change (unless its confirmed to be Fox Luigi).
- Koopa K (talk) Okay, Raccoon Luigi does have fox ears and a tail, and he looks more like a fox than a raccoon, but he has never been officially refered to as fox Luigi, so until I hear someone from Nintendo call him Fox Luigi, or a game call him Fox Luigi, he is, and will always be Raccoon Luigi.
- Coooool123 (talk) Per All.
- LuigiBlubber (talk) He has the same abilities as Raccoon Mario. Just because he looks different doesn't mean he needs a new name. Plus, Nintendo of America calls him a raccoon.
- Luigi42 (talk) Isn't the official name for him 'Kitsune Luigi'? But yeah, we probably should just use the same name.
- Zero777 (talk) Per all
- ItsameMario (talk) Nintendo has not yet published his name to be Fox Luigi.
Comments[edit]
LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:51, 15 August 2012 (EDT)
@ Red-Cyan Toad That is different, they have been officially referred to as different, unlike Raccon Mario/Luigi. Koopa K (talk)
OK, if this proposal supports Raccoon Luigi I am going to change every single "Fox Luigi" on this page to "Raccoon Luigi" and I hope I don't have these edits changed. Koopa K (talk)
Wow. This TPP might hit the extension limit. As any proposal that has over 10 votes must be decided by a margin of 3. Koopa K (talk)
@MarioSmasher I'm pretty sure it isn't official, all the website says is he has a fox ears and a tail, not that he is called Fox Luigi, and where did you learn to spell? Koopa K (talk)
@MarioSmasher The site states Luigi looks sharp in his fox tail and ears. It does NOT say OMGEEEEEEEEEE IT'S FOX WEGEEEEEEEEEEEEE, NOT WACCOON WEEGEEEEEEEEEE!!! LuigiBlubber (talk)
- @LuigiBlubber & MarioSmasher Expressing opinions is fine, but writing in that form can be disturbing. Could you please refrain from writing babyish language in Caps please. Thanks, JORDAN DEBONO (talk) 15:31, 26 August 2012 (EDT)
- And I don't know why so many people are insisting on calling him Raccoon Luigi when he doesn't even have those features anymore. Ange34 (talk) 18:28, 27 August 2012 (EDT)

Release Date[edit]
I see in a shop New Super Mario Bros. 2 in Mexico. But why? No the release date was August 19? Someone not seen the game in USA? Sequels[edit]
Even though it is pretty obvious that NSMB and NSMBW are the sequels to this game, Nintendo have released videos on eShop claiming that Super Mario Bros. 3 is the direct sequel to this game. Shouldn't we mention it in the article. JackpotJordan 01:57, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- I see alot of errors in your comment there.
- I am not joking, trust me. JackpotJordan 02:48, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- When they said SMB3 was the "direct" sequel, they were referring to the fact that it has things like the Super Leaf, Wooden Blocks, and such.
Add On Content[edit]
Before NSMB2 was released, there was an icon on eShop representing Add On Content however no info was given. Having said this, the official website states that new stages for Coin Rush can be purchased and received via SpotPass. Here's the link: [11] Skip to the second paragraph. JackpotJordan 05:21, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- According to the e-manual, the DLC will be purchased in-game by a shop in Coin Rush that will be opened soon, and we will get a SpotPass notification when it opens. Also, you can't buy individual stages, just packs of 3. Hope this helped! Mario3D64
Collection Notices[edit]
Should we add the notifications that pop up when you recieve a certain of Coins? If so, let's have a thing at the top of the section that says "Note: All notifications not shown state "You collected XXX coins!" and just show the ones that appear on the title screen (they are different). So...should we do this? Mario3D64 (talk) 16:43, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- As of now I don't have the game so I don't know what you're referencing, but if it's something of importance that is exclusive to this game, then go ahead and add it. JackpotJordan 03:20, 25 August 2012 (EDT)
Glitch Page[edit]
I just found a glitch while I was playing that I would like to add to a glitch page. It's Flipthenote, here to help.
- What is the glitch? If you would be kind enough as to explain the steps to perform it I'm sure another owner of the game will be happy to confirm it and allow you to add it. Otherwise, you can simply take a video or screenshot of it or find one over the Internet to prove the glitch. Unfortunately I cannot verify it for you myself since my copy hasn't arrived yet. JackpotJordan 16:22, 25 August 2012 (EDT)
I have made a video of the glitch. It's not uploaded yet, but I can do it later. It doesn't have as much quality as some other pieces of media on Super Mario Wiki, since I don't have any idea how to do that. It's Flipthenote, here to help.
It's Flipthenote, here to help.
- That's great Flipthenote! JackpotJordan 03:08, 26 August 2012 (EDT)
Does the glitch page have to be a subpage of this one? It's Flipthenote, here to help.
- No a new page must be made to keep an order like all other articles. You can place a link on this article under the Beta Elements. If you need help in creating the page or anything else, don't hesitate to ask :) JackpotJordan 15:22, 26 August 2012 (EDT)
It's Flipthenote, here to help.
D-Pad, Analog Stick or both?[edit]
Do you have to play with the D-Pad, Analog Stick or both? Armin00 14:11, 30 August 2012 (EDT)

The D-pad is only for minor stuff.Tf2 fan810 (talk) 06:22, 16 September 2012 (EDT)
What is this for?[edit]
The article says:
- Before the events of the game, Mario and Luigi visit Princess Peach in her castle to talk about their adventures together.
It's Flipthenote, here to help.
- I thought the same thing. It's removed now. Next time don't hesisate to do it yourself. Then if someone undos your edit, you can bring it up here :) JackpotJordan 21:26, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

Subpages for Main Page[edit]
Considering how long the page for New Super Mario Bros. 2 is, I think it would be a good idea to make subpages in order to make the main page shorter. Mr. Kite (talk) 23:11, April 20, 2020 (EDT)
- This is actually something I've been meaning to bring up for a while now, but never had the time to really sit down and coordinate something. MarioWiki:Article size says overly long pages (for example, Bowser's, our longest non-list article) can be split, the discussion of how to do so should happen before going ahead with anything. And there are a lot of pages that meet this criteria. 23:13, April 20, 2020 (EDT)
Parallel world[edit]
I was wondering if I think that New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 3DS is set in a parallel world to New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. Should this be added or something like that? GuntherBayBeee

Canonicity[edit]
Per MarioWiki:Canonicity, we better not try to connect the storylines of certain games to each other when there is absoloutely no indication that the stories actually do follow each other. I think that New Super Mario Bros. 2 is another story of Mario and Luigi, just like Super Mario Galaxy 2 is another story of stardust. So, can we add that NSMB2 is another story of the Mario Bros.? GuntherBayBeee 10:01, June 24, 2023 (EDT)

The story of the game and the SMBE[edit]
Does anyone know that the Super Mario Brothers Encyclopedia cites the story of the game in its own way? Like, it says that "Mario and Luigi were invited by Peach to discuss their next adventures" or something like that (I've got the book but I can't go see what it says right now). So, shouldn't the article say that story? Or is it also a "Tranlation error"? I think it's really unlikely. And was there a proposal or something about this? I don't wanna be annoying...
