De Buu is a large, obese meditating pig creature who is the second and eighth boss of Game B of Round Mode in the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Wario's Woods. He has horns and wears ragged clothing. In Toad's first encounter with De Buu, he can creates enemies at a rapid rate by meditating. He crosses his legs and floats in the air. In his second encounter, De Buu can create enemies at even a faster pace. Also, the Japanese word for a pig's noise is "buubuu," so if De Buu's name was fully translated, it would be along the lines of "The Grunt" or "The Oink." He bears a resemblance to Moblins from the Legend of Zelda series.

Boom[1] is a large, obese, meditating pig creature who is the second and eighth boss of Game B of Round Mode in the NES version of Wario's Woods. He first appears in the nineteenth round of the game. Boom's artwork depicts him to having horns and to wearing ragged clothing. He also sports a fork and knife combination which may be in reference to his gluttonous nature.

History[edit]

Wario's Woods[edit]

Toad, the main protagonist of Wario's Woods, needs to hit Boom nine times with bomb explosives in order to defeat him.

In Toad's first encounter with Boom, he can create enemies at a rapid rate by meditating. He crosses his legs and floats in the air. In his second encounter, Boom can create enemies at even a faster pace. Boom can also throw the enemies around the stage which adds to his ability to form monsters through meditating. Boom (like the other bosses) is also capable of re-locating himself and if he is to re-materialize near Toad, he would cause the hero to instantly lose the battle.

Super Mario (KC Deluxe)[edit]

Boom appears in two chapters of the Wario's Woods adaptation in the Super Mario Kodansha manga. He is summoned with Mad and Seizer by Fauster, after regaining some of his powers with Wario sacrificing Baby Luigi to him, who Boom asks if he can eat him, only to be promised his parents (Mario and Peach). Later, he is sent to stop Mario and his friends following Goro's defeat. After the heroes split up, Peach encounters Boom, and he jumps onto her to eat her, but she quickly grabs two bombs and shoves them into his mouth, causing him to explode. All that is left behind of him is cooked meat.

Super Mario-kun[edit]

Boom is the main antagonist of chapter 14 of Super Mario-kun volume 11. He tricks Mario and his friends to enter his restaurant, where they will be served as the food he will eat, after being cooked and then turned into actual food thanks to Boom's magical fork. Birdo, entering the story, attempts to help the heroes, but she too is turned into food. After eating Mario-salami, Wanda tricks Boom into eating some vegetables, including Yoshi (turned into a Carrot) and, after he joins Mario in the stomach, Mario bites Yoshi, transforming into Bunny Mario and exiting Boom's stomach. As Boom attempts to eat him back, Mario reveals that, with the vegetables, Wanda also left him a surprise: a bomb. Boom explodes, turning into roast beef, while Wanda uses the fork to turn the others back to normal.
