Shrooba Divers are green Shroobs with white spots from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time that wear scuba masks and oxygen tanks. These Shroobs have the unique ability to "swim" in sand; their name is a pun on "Shroob" and "scuba diver". Shrooba Divers were stationed in the Gritzy Desert during the Shroob conquest of the Mushroom Kingdom, where they would patrol the sands, looking for intruders who would spoil the invasion effort. The four Mario Bros. of past and present fought many Shrooba Divers during their efforts to liberate the Mushroom Kingdom of the past.

In battle, Shrooba Divers employed a variety of attacks and techniques to defeat their opponents. First, a Shrooba Diver could dig in the sand and pull out various objects to harm the Mario brothers with. A Shrooba Diver may pull out a Spiny Egg which the Shroob would then hurl at a Mario brother. This attack could be easily jumped over. The hand it throws it with determines whicn brother well get hit. Occasionally, the green Shroob would pull up a Blurp, and, again, would throw it at a brother. Fortunately, these Blurps bounced, meaning the fish would flop right over the Mario Bro.'s head. Secondly, a Shrooba Diver could tunnel under the sand, leap out, then dive into a Mario brother, inflicting damage but before that also lift up a hand left for Luigi and right for Mario. This attack could be countered with a Hammer strike. Lastly, a Shroob Diver would try to swim into a brother. This special technique could be countered with a jump attack.

Shrooba Divers are enemies that appear in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, where they are found in the Gritzy Desert. They are green Shroobs with white spots that wear scuba masks and oxygen tanks, and have the ability to "swim" in sand. Their name is a pun on "Shroob" and "scuba diver". Shrooba Divers try to ambush Mario and Luigi by surfacing under them in the overworld. They are fought alone or in pairs, and also appear alongside Pokeys and Bob-ombs.

In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, while Mario and Luigi battle the Shroobs, some frozen Shrooba Divers are seen in the background.

Battle[edit]

Shrooba Divers raise their hand and spin as they tunnel under the sand, leaping out to try and dive into Mario or Luigi; Baby Mario and Baby Luigi must counter this attack with the hammer. The Shrooba Diver raises its right hand for Mario, and its left for Luigi. Shrooba Divers can also swim through the sand towards one of the Bros. and circle back towards the other from behind; the attack can be dodged and countered by jumping, and can trip Mario or Luigi if it hits them.

Occasionally, the Shrooba Divers may jump and dive into the sand, then pull out an object to throw at the Bros.; objects thrown with the right hand target Mario, while objects thrown with the left target Luigi. They can pull out either a circular cactus or a Sand Cheep. The cactus must be dodged by jumping, while the Sand Cheep bounces overhead and will damage the Bros. if they jump into it. Shrooba Divers take critical damage from the Ice Flower Bros. Item, and may drop a Super Mushroom or Blue Pepper upon defeat.
