The Excess Express is a luxury train Mario and his comrades ride to get to Riverside Station and Poshley Heights in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
During that time, unfortunate events happen, hindering Mario and his pals and keeping them from getting the sixth Crystal Star. Heff T. steals Chef Shimi's Galley Pot; and the Shadow Sirens steal a Ratooey Businessman's briefcase, the waitress's shell earrings, and Toodles' Gold Ring. The Shadow Sirens planned to mix the things they stole together to bomb the train in Nitro Honey Syrup, thus resulting in a sticky, yummy mess, so Mario and his friends enlisted the help of Pennington to foil their treacherous plans.
Mario and his pals also met Ghost T. here. Mario had to talk to the Excess Express's conductor and get Ghost T. a blanket. Mario also had to return to retrieve Ghost T.'s diary. There is also an engineer that runs the train.
Mario and company also run into a hoard of minature Smorgs that kidnap all the passengers on board, with the exception of the conductor and the waitress.
