Super Mario Chess Game: Nintendo Collector's Edition is a Mario series-themed chess set released by USAopoly in September of 2009. The rules of the game are the same as defined by the original game.
There are 32 hand-painted characters taking the place of the various pieces:
- Mario as the King,
- Luigi as the Queen,
- Princess Peach and Princess Daisy as Bishops,
- Yoshi as the Knight,
- Toad as the Rook,
- Coins as Pawns.
For the opposing side,
- Bowser is the King,
- Bowser Jr. the Queen,
- Kamek or a general Magikoopa the Bishop,
- Birdo the Knight,
- Goomba the Rook,
- Green Shells as Pawns.
The pieces measure 3-inches tall x 11-inches wide x 11-inches long.
Trivia
- Luigi and Daisy are modeled after their 3-inch figurines, while Bowser and the Magikoopas are modeled after their official Super Mario Galaxy artwork.
