Spike are enemies found in Super Mario Bros. 3. They appear in Iced Land stages, and attacks by pulling spiked balls out of its stomach and throwing them at Mario or Luigi. Its stomach is used for storage for many other things and like Lakitus, they have unlimited amounts of ammo.

Spikes later reappears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Instead of pulling spiked balls from their stomach, it shoots huge ones twice its size.

An icy variety of Spike called Snow Spike also appears in New Super Mario Bros. and instead of spiked balls, they throw big snowballs.

Some are green while others are white. It resembles a Clubba, the difference being that Clubbas have hair, are bigger, and instead of producing spiked balls, they wield them on their maces. Tolstar may also be a beanified version of Spike as he also produces spiked balls from his mouth.

"Spike" is named after the spiky balls they throw.
