Super Piranha Plants are giant Piranha Plants found in the game New Super Mario Bros. and its sequel. They are not to be confused with the Piranhacus Giganticus. They act just like Piranha Plants. They are never found inside pipes due to their gigantic size. Mario must shoot three fireballs at one to destroy the monstrous plant. When killed, they will give up eight coins, instead of the usual one coin.
In Super Mario 64's Tiny-Huge Island there was a similar enemy that was about the same size as the Super Piranha Plant that would suddenly grow out of the ground, then spits a fireball before disappearing. These are probably just Venus Fire Traps mutated by the level's effect, since smaller V.f.T.s can be found in the same place on the smaller part of the island. There is also a giant purple pirahna plant that appears in Mario Superstar Baseball that could be a Super Piranha Plant.
There is also a suspiciously large Piranha Plant that cameos in Dry Dry Desert of Mario Kart: Double Dash!!; it can be found in the middle of a large pit of quicksand. It would eat any racing kart that entered the pit. Only the plant's head is seen, but it is even larger than Petey Piranha's. It looks like Petey but is green, has white spots, and brown thorns.
Trivia
- In Mario Kart Double Dash!!, if the racer goes into the pit while using a star, the giant plant will not eat him/her.
- The plant also appears on a sign that reads "DANGER!!!" shortly after the part where the Piranha Plant is.
