Honen are a common sight in the Muda Kingdom of Sarasaland. They appear in Super Mario Land. According to the instruction manual, they are the skeletons of Torion eaten by Tatanga and jump out of the oceans or oceanic caverns of Muda. This appears to be what they do whether there is an enemy there or not. They can easily be defeated by being jumped on (Or by simply standing above them. This trick has appeared in many Mario games), but they remain unaffected by superballs. Defeating one is worth 100 points. They appear in World 2-1 and World 2-3.
