Heavy Piranha Plants are giant Piranha Plants found in the game New Super Mario Bros. and its sequel. They are not to be confused with the Piranhacus Giganticus. They act just like Piranha Plants. They are never found inside pipes due to their gigantic size. Mario must shoot three fireballs at one to destroy the monstrous plant. When killed, they will give up eight coins, instead of the usual one coin.

Trivia
- In Mario Kart Double Dash!!, if the racer goes into the pit while using a star, the giant plant will not eat him/her.
- The plant also appears on a sign that reads "DANGER!!!" shortly after the part where the Piranha Plant is.
