World 8-2 is the second level of World 8 in Super Mario Bros. and the thirtieth and antepenultimate level overall in said game.
Layout[edit]
The player starts at the bottom of a broken flight of stone stairs with two Koopa Paratroopas jumping down and a Lakitu above. After the stairs is a row of ? Blocks followed by a jumping board. Using the jumping board to hit the Brick Block directly above will cause a 1 up Mushroom to appear and begin sliding down the row of Brick Blocks. Next are gaps and Koopa Paratroopas before the first Turtle Cannon of the level, followed by a row of Turtle Cannons and Buzzy Beetles. In the right block of the first group of Brick Blocks after the first Turtle Cannon is a power-up, and in the Brick Block to the right of the floating Turtle Cannon is a Coin Block. After the second pipe ahead are two small platforms in a large gap the player must jump across. The next tall pipe afterward leads to an underground area, which exits out of the pipe immediately afterward. After some more Turtle Cannons, Little Goombas, a Buzzy Beetle, Koopa Paratroopas, and stone stairs is the flagpole.
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe challenges[edit]
In Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, the player can collect five Red Coins, find a hidden Yoshi Egg, and get a medal based on their score. The Yoshi Egg is found in a Hidden Block just after the Warp Pipe to the underground area, and the score to beat is 28000. The Red Coin locations are:
- On the row of Brick Blocks where the 1 up Mushroom is found. A newly placed Hidden Block can be found to the left of the jumping board to help the player up
- In the right Brick Block in the group just after the long row of Brick Blocks
- In the air, after the second pipe, above the narrow platforms
- In a newly placed Coin Block in the underground area. A Hidden Block is placed just before the exit pipe to allow the player to reach it
- Between the stone staircase and the Turtle Cannons
