Mines
Sprite from Wario Land 4
First appearance Wario Land 4 (2001)

A mine[1] is an enemy in Wario Land 4. Mines are encountered in the boss battle against Catbat only, where two or three are exhaled from Catbat's mouth every time Wario deals damage. Mines are floating, spike-colored balls with one eye and a tongue sticking out. They are purple during the first part, and if Wario touches one, he will become Puffy Wario, interfering with the battle. As Catbat's health becomes increasingly lower, it will send out red mines, which will harm Wario instead. The mines trace a wavy path of movement through the air, and will continue in the direction of Catbat's exhale until they leave the screen. Mines disappear immediately upon contact with Wario, but they cannot be defeated otherwise.
