LINE is a messaging app by Line Corporation that is popular in Japan and other Asian countries. The service is known for its distinct stickers that can be sent with messages. Nintendo has used this service by creating multiple different series of stickers based on the Super Mario franchise, as well as an official automated account known as Kinopio-kun. Line Corporation co-developed Dr. Mario World with Nintendo and NHN Entertainment for smart devices, and the game was released on June 9, 2019.

Nintendo has released multiple official sets of stickers for use with the app. Each set costs $1.99 on the app's store page. All of the stickers in each set are animated, and feature voice clips or soundbytes of the sticker's subject, which play automatically.
