Spike's Tumbling Desert, or Layer Cake Desert-1, is the first course of Layer-Cake Desert in New Super Luigi U. It is unlocked by completing Lemmy's Lights-Out Castle, and its own completion will unlock Underground Grrrols and Piranhas in the Dark.
Layout[edit]
The player begins the level near a ? Block. A pit of quicksand is then encountered, along with Spikes on rising and falling Brick Blocks. Two Spikes on the ground are then encountered, along with one on top of a ? Block. A Red Ring is then found. As the ground slopes upwards, three Spikes on Brick Blocks appear. At the bottom of a steep slope, a P Switch can be found near rows of coins moving up and down above quicksand. Two Spikes are encountered, along with the Goal Pole.
Star Coins[edit]
- Star Coin 1: The first Star Coin is above the first Spike in the level.
- Star Coin 2: The second Star Coin is in a secret area beside the fifth Spike.
- Star Coin 3: The third Star Coin is above the Spike to the right of the P Switch.
Luigi sighting[edit]
- There is a bone shaped as Luigi to the left of the P-Switch.
