| Firefoxes makes their first appearance in the original ''[[Donkey Kong (game)|Donkey Kong]]'' and in the remake [[Donkey Kong (Game Boy)|for the Game Boy]] as enemies. Firefoxes emerge from the [[Oil Drum]]s and then chase after [[Mario]], trying to burn him. If Mario is touched by a Firefox, he will lose [[Extra Life|a life]] and be forced to restart the level. Firefoxes will go to extremes to burn Mario, even climbing up [[Ladder]]s - no matter if they are broken or fixed. If Mario jumps over a Fire, he will get [[Point]]s but the only way to destroy them is with a [[Hammer]]. Firefoxes only appear in three levels of the game; [[25m]], [[50m]] and [[75m]]. In the [[100m|fourth level]] they are replaced by [[Fire]]s.
