Blue Blazes, also known as water smashers,[1] are blue normal ghosts encountered in Luigi's Mansion and the remake. They are Blue Twirlers with water protecting their heart. They have 30 HP. Blue Blazes normally appear only in the Safari Room although the PAL Hidden Mansion also has one in the Tea Room during the blackout and two in the Telephone Room. The Blue Blaze attacks by slamming the ground, creating a tremor that takes away 10 HP from Luigi on contact. Blue Blazes can be vulnerable if Luigi sprays ice on them from the Poltergust 3000.
The term "blue blazes" is a euphemism for Hell, used in expressions such as "What in blue blazes?"
