Coleco Industries, Inc., also known as simply Coleco, was an American video game and toy company founded in 1932 by Maurice Greenberg as The Connecticut Leather Company.
In 1982, Nintendo allowed Coleco to port Donkey Kong to home consoles and tabletops,[2] later offering the rights to Donkey Kong Jr. Even though Coleco had the right to port these two games only on home consoles, the company also ported Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. on its computer Coleco Adam. Coleco justified its existence in that it uses a ColecoVision cartridge as opposed to a cassette or floppy disk. Coleco also created Donkey Kong merchandise figures.
