|Fossil Canyon is a sandy, dusty, and rugged area. Its race takes place during sunset. Another dinosaur appears in the stage, but it remains in the background and does not interfere with the race. Racers drive through a cave at one point, which can either be entered from the usual curved path or from a Zipper to shortcut across a lake just outside of the cave.
The Hot Top Volcano track of Dino Domain takes place in a cavernous area with volcanic activity. The course is traversed by Planes. Many areas of this track are overrun by lava and the dinosaurs from the first two tracks return, getting in the racers' way on occasion. Though the lava might look menacing, it has actually no influence on the racers.

Tricky the Triceratops, the boss of Dino Domain is required to be raced twice. The first time after the player won on all tracks, and a second time after all the Silver Coin challenges are completed. The race itself takes place on a road that spirals it way up a mountain. The player has to beat Tricky the Triceratops in a race to the summit. Along the way, boulders will roll down the mountain that can flatten the racer. Several stone pillars may also collapse and block part of the way. If the player is not careful, Tricky may trample over the racer and slow them down. After the boss is defeated two times, the player receives a part of the Wizpig Amulet.

After the player collects the key hidden in Dino Domain, they will get access to Fire Mountain, where they can obtain a part of the T.T. Amulet. The challenge of Fire Mountain takes place in a volcanic area. The center of the arena houses eggs that can be picked up by a racer's plane. The racer has to carry the egg to his nest located in one of the four corners of the arena. By doing so, the egg will start to hatch. An unhatched egg can be picked up by an opponent who will take it to his or her own nest. After an egg has spent enough time in a racers nest, it will hatch, meaning that it can no longer be taken by anyone. The player who hatches three eggs first, wins.

The Dino Domain is the first world of Diddy Kong Racing and its Nintendo DS version and an area of Timber's Island. The Dino Domain is set in a dry, prehistoric area with dinosaurs and pterodactyls, and most of the courses are in a canyon landscape, which features small lakes and some plant life, specifically grass and pine trees. One of the stages is set in an entirely volcanic region, along with its Challenge Level. Tricky is the boss of the Dino Domain.
