Hey, hi, hello, hup-two, welcome to the latest, shiny-new issue of From the Mushroom Vaults. Since I am having some personal problems in my life outside a computer (yeah, I have one) this issue is shorter than the others. Here’s hoping the next issue will be a lot bigger!
Wacky Warping
Seriously, if you have not found the secret Warp Areas in Super Mario Brothers, you cannot call yourself a Mario fanatic. These areas are the biggest secret in the game; by using these areas, you can get through the whole game lickety-split.
Warp Area #1
This warp area is the most-known secret in the entire game. Near the end of Level 1-2, leap upon the last set of elevating platforms. Leap atop the ledge of bricks that extends over the exit pipe and run to the right. After Mario falls into the secret room, there are three pipes available that will warp him to worlds 2, 3, or 4!
Warp Area #2
In Level 4-2, the third Piranha Plant’s pipe in the level holds the entry to a secret area high in the sky, where huge mushrooms grow, coins abound, and Mario can warp his butt over to worlds 6, 7, or 8.
Well?
Using these two warp zones correctly, you can warp from 1-2 to 4-1 and from 4-2 to 8-1. Happy Bowser-bashing!
For further reference, the movie below shows a really awesome SMB player shooting through each Warp Zone, for those that work better when things are demonstrated.

Those glowing rabbits in Super Mario 64 DS are by far the hardest challenge of all. What they? Why are they so fast? How many must you catch? How do they appear? And why did I talk like Elmer Fudd in the title?
What are they?
These eight glowing rabbits appear only after every normal Rabbit is caught. (For a full walkthrough on how to catch every rabbit, see my full walkthrough of Super Mario 64 DS in the SM64DS article.)
How do you catch them?
These glowing hares appear randomly in the place of another rabbit. For example, one may appear in the castle basement, in the place of the normal rabbit.
WHAT?! RANDOMLY?!
Yep, randomly. This fact makes them the hardest mission in the whole game. It's impossible to predict where they'll come up, and when they'll appear. What, did you expect me to give you a full walkthrough?
YES!
OK, OK, I'll tell you the best and fastest way to catch them all. In the Castle Grounds, the castle's front yard, Yoshi will always have about five or six rabbits hopping about. Every time Yoshi goes in or out of the door, one rabbit in the castle will begin glowing.
There is a good chance, since there are so many rabbits outside, that the glowing rabbit will be one in the grounds outside. Every time Yoshi goes outside, examine the castle grounds, checking each rabbit. If one glows, chase after it! These bunnies are a good deal faster than the normal rabbits, but Yoshi's tongue is a great asset in snagging these runaway rabbits.
What happens when I catch them all?
Nothing.
WHAT?!
APRIL FOOL'S!
It's November, doofus.
Oh.
What happens when I catch them all?!
These rabbits (this is for real; not a joke) hold the secret to the odd room in the Changing Room in the castle, where Yoshi, Mario, Luigi, and Wario reside. After you've caught them all, the final rabbit will give you they key. What's inside the room? I ain't telling. But what's lurking behind the doors is essential to completing the game 100%.
The End
Have fun using this newfound (or rehashed) information in your video game travels. I'm off to see what a Mac & Cheese milkshake looks like. Ciao!

Super Mario Chef Challenge
Premiering tonight (Friday the second of November) at 5:00 PM is a new, Mario themed cooking/comedy show that focuses mainly on wacky food related antics instead of actual cooking in an attempt to draw younger viewers to the Food Network's programming. It is hosted by Mario & Luigi as they travel the world to find the greatest food, and have quite a few laughs along the way... Or just stay at home and throw silverware around. So far, four episodes and a double length, two part special have been announced;
"Episode 1A: Taco Factory"
Airtime: November 2nd, 5:00 PM

Also, viewers will get to see Mario trick Luigi into eating the world's spicest pepper, the Naga Jolokia.
"Episode 1B: Vermont"
Airtime: November 2nd, 5:30 PM
Description: Mario, on the run from Luigi after the pepper incident, visits Vermont, and is tricked by Bowser into churning butter. Mario then uses the butter to make all Bowser's troops fat, foiling Bowser's plans. Then, he visits a dairy farm and learns how cheese is made, and meets up with Luigi (who forgives him) and they pay a visit to Ben and Jerry of the famous ice cream company.
"Episode 2: Japan"
Airtime: November 9th, 5:30 PM
Description: Mario and Luigi go to Japan, were they work in a ramen shop on a busy night but get fired due to their incompetance and lack of knowledge of japanese, eat at a restauraunt were you catch your own fish out of a tank before you eat it, eat Squid on a stick, and attempt to eat hot instant curry on a high-speed train (Which, needless to say, doesn't work out so well).
"Episode 3: Food of the Future"
Airtime: November 16th, 5:30 PM
Description: Mario eats too much leftover turkey for lunch, and falls asleep. In his dream, he imagines a far future world were turkeys ruled over human slaves and all meals were made of flavored, microwavable bread. Meanwhile, Luigi tries to create the next food sensation by creating a waffle sandwhich.
"Episode 4: Pizza and BBQ"
Airtime: November 23rd, 5:30 PM
Description: Mario and Luigi find out that all of the pizza deliverymen that work for their pizzeria in Brooklyn are sick, and Luigi decides to take on the job over. Along the way, he goes to a BBQ, fights thieves at a supermarket, and finds a diamond in a trash can. Meanwhile, Mario tries new pizza topping combinations.
"Episode 5: Boxcar Blues"
Airtime: November 30th, 5:30 PM
Description: When a careless man operating a switch on a railroad sends a train full of high explosives heading straight into a major city in the place of a train full of canned pineapples, Luigi saves the day, but accidentaly blows up a meat packing plant, and is forced to clean up the mess. Meanwhile, Mario prepares a romantic meal for Princess Peach.
Is there any more?
5 more episodes plus a exciting two part season finale are also planned for the first season, but details have not been announced. Make sure not to miss Super Mario Chef Challenge when it premiers tonight, or you will be missing out on a wonderfull world of fun and... food.
=== Mario & Sonic: Nitro GP ===
Mario & Sonic: Nitro GP is an upcoming Video Game in the Mario & Sonic Series, for the Wii.
Gameplay
Its basically, just another Mario Kart game, but with several different types of vechiles, and the ability to do Tricks(Like in Sonic Riders, and Mario Kart Wii). The Player can choose to race in a Kart(Mario Kart), An Airboard(Sonic Riders), a Motorcycle(Mario kart), or Air skates(Sonic Riders). Each have their own upsides, and downsides.
- Kart
- Slower then others, but with good traction and control.
- Airboard
- The fastest, but with bad control, and since its not even touching the ground, awful traction.
- Motorcycle
- Fast, and with good control, however bad stearing, and rather clunky control.
- Air skates
- Very good control, and stearing, but not all that fast, and its worse at tricks then the others.
Tricks are performed by shaking and moving the Nunchuck attachment, when your about to fly off a ramp, or right after flying off a ramp as part of a series of tricks, started right before flying off the ramp. Doing a trick gets you -100 - +1000 points, getting points effects %50 of your score in the end of a match. So, even if you got a bad place, you can make up for it by doing tricks.

Mushroom Cup
The Mushroom Cup's Raceways are all rather simple. Sometimes full of traps, but usually very straight forward. They also tend to have more Items then the Emerald Cup ones.
- Mario's Raceway
- A large generic Raceway, themed to Mario, and the Mushroom Kingdom.
- Kamek's Cavern
- An underground cave Raceway, filled with Boos, and Dry Bones.
- Paper Raceway
- A Paper Mario-like raceway, going trough a town resembling Toad Town from the first Paper Mario game.
- WarioWare Inc.
- A course going right through the WarioWare HQ building. And, in the process going through several Micro Games.
- Rainbow Road
- The same old Rainbow Road style stage from all the other Mario racing games. However, here it has a lot more traps(Such as pieces of track that fall out, or move). Also, theres now several trick jumps, ramps that are there to trick you into jumping, then falling to your doom. Also, for the first time since Super Mario Kart, Thwomps inhabit this stage.
Emerald Cup
The Emerald Cup's stages are all full of twists, loops, and corkscrews. If your not going fast enough, you'll simply fall out of the crazy track!
- Metal Harbour
- Similar to the Sonic Adventure 2 stage, of the same name. A military Harbour raceway, filled with all kinds of traps.
- Green Hill Zone
- A familiar place for Sonic Fans. The first stage in Sonic the Hedgehog(1991), and also an area that started a long series of similar levels in the Sonic Series.
- Sky Deck
- A huge Raceway that takes place on top of Dr. Eggman's flying battleship, the Egg Carrier.
- Casinopolis
- A huge Pinball stage(Similar to Waluigi's Pinball, but more... Pinball-like).
- Emerald Stage
- A race track based on the special stages of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic Heroes. A large half pipe like stage, filled with spiked balls, and bombs. The Player can do tricks if they run up on the Half Pipe, however, they can fall off the stage if their not careful. Also, like in Sonic Heroes, sometimes a Balloon will come, and drop both Traps, and items, so be careful.

Geno: Nope.
3D: Why's that?
Geno: If I had stayed, I'd have had to star alongside Bowser Jr.
3D: Good point.
Geno: Also, a wooden doll makes a lousy body.
3D: How so?
Geno: Lighting campfires is a hard task when you're made of wood. Also, a wooden body makes you practisally invincible.

Upcoming Games
My Bloody ValentineGoing in alphabetical order this time!
Donkey Kong Wii
Donkey Kong Wii, truly a sight to behold, being the first Donkey Kong Adventure game since Donkey Kong 64.
That said, we have no real information on the game… STILL! Sorry, but I have to skip out on this one for another issue. Hopefully, we’ll get some more info for a later issue. No release dates yet. Sorry people.
Dr. Mario & Bacterial Eradication
Dr. Mario & Bacterial Eradication is coming out for the new Wii channel, the WiiWare. Although, it is only a remake of Dr. Mario, it has some slight changes to it. It has better graphics, new added features, and the addition of the Mii as a playable character (with Dr. Mario being replaced by the Mii). It is compatible with Wi-Fi Connection, and can have up to four players playing at once. Not much else is known about this game, so I’m gonna end here. Like Donkey Kong Wii, this game has no release dates yet.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, my most anticipated game currently, will come out for both the Wii and Nintendo DS, and will use both the consoles functions, so you can expect some awesome gameplay out of both of them.
Fans were surprised to see Nintendo and Sega working together on a game featuring Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. However, people have mixed feelings about this game, wondering whether it will be enjoyable, like many of Mario’s sports titles, or if it will be crummy, like many of Sonic’s recent games. I, personally, think the game will be awesome. It will have a wide range of activities, each with its own controls, and will allow players to choose among several Mario and Sonic characters. Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Tails, Yoshi, Knuckles, Peach, Amy Rose, Bowser, Dr. Eggman, Wario, Shadow, Daisy, Blaze the Cat, Waluigi and Vector have been confirmed to be playable. There are four character types; All-Around, Skill, Speed and Power, with four characters in each category. Each character in the categories have varying statistics, however. Characters who didn’t make it as a playable character will still appear, in the form of referees. They watch over the game, keep score, enforce the rules, and shout out who won the game.
Oh, and, I almost forgot! Mii will be playable as well. Yeah, how unusual is THAT? We don’t know his character type at this moment, however.
The game will be released on November 6th, 2007 in America, November 22nd for both Australia and Japan, with a European release just one day after that. Not too far away, Mario and Sonic fans, be prepared!
Mario Kart Wii
Mario Kart Wii is aptly named, as it is a Mario Kart for the Wii. Seems to be a good game, but, as we don’t have TOO much info on it (compared to other games), I really can’t say.
Its console predecessor, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, was very enjoyable, and had some awesome new features. Two players in one Kart was very fun, and the wide range of playable characters made it very enjoyable as well. I can only assume this game will have better gameplay and more characters. My reason for believing that, is because the game will use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk’s controls, and will feature over 12 racers in one race, meaning more players to choose from. Being bundled with the game, will be the Wii Wheel, Nintendo’s answer to the wheel for the Playstation (I forget what it was called). We don’t know how the controls of the Wii Wheel work, however, but we’ll find out soon… hopefully. Several new race courses will be included in the game, as well as old ones from previous Mario Kart games, similar to what Mario Party DS did. Players can do special tricks as well, and will now have actual cars (not Karts) that match the characters personalities. Motorbikes can be used as well, as confirmed by Nintendo.
The game will be released early next year for American and Japan, and then later on in the year for Australia and Europe.
Mario Party DS
Mario Party DS, the second Mario Party game released this year. Well, like Mario Party 8 to the Wii, Mario Party DS will use the Nintendo DS’s functions completely, using the Touch Screen, Dual Screen and the DS Microphone. This makes for some awesome gameplay
Basically, Bowser, using his wand, shrinks Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Daisy, Wario, Waluigi and Toad, and now, the group have to traverse boards filled with giant allies and enemies. Their goal is to defeat Bowser and get back to normal size. Although, I was hoping for more playable characters, the massive amount of Mini-games probably limited the amount of playable characters. Story Mode, Party Mode and Mini-Game Mode return from the previous games, with an additional three modes; Puzzle Mode, Extra Mode and Gallery Mode. I don’t want to go TOO in-depth over those modes, however, so check the the article for more information. Interestingly, there will be Boss Battles in the Story Mode, with each of the five Boards having a unique boss.
Mario Party DS’s Japanese release is not too far away, with the game coming out on November 8th. American gets the game on November 13th, with Europe’s release on November 23rd. We Aussies don’t get it til’ December 6th.
Super Mario Stadium Baseball
Super Mario Stadium Baseball is the Wii successor to Mario Superstar Baseball. Although I don’t usually play Superstar Baseball, I enjoy watching my brother play the game. As such, I am REALLY looking forward to the Wii instalment of Mario Baseball.
Although information is still scarce, currently, the game is known to use the Wii Remote controls perfectly. Although this game has a large amount of confirmed characters, none are new at this moment. In fact, I can’t think of any new captains. Considering Namco Bandai are making the game, maybe Pacman will be a new character? Hopefully not. Anyway, Power Shots have been confirmed to be returning, but, now every captain has a unique Power Shot, in oppose to Mario Superstar Baseball. However, as we don’t have too much detail on the game at this moment, I cannot say very much after that.
Either way, the game will be released next year sometime, so don’t get TOO excited.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
OK, this will be my longest section, so be prepared. Also, I did NOT put this at the end on purpose! It happens to be last, alphabetically.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the third instalment of the Super Smash Bros. series, and it is coming out on the Wii. However, as Masahiro Sakurai didn’t want to exclude those used to the GameCube controls, Brawl has four different control types, so rest easy, GameCube players! Additionally, a new story mode, called the Subspace Emissary. This is an actual story mode, unlike the previous Smash Bros. game modes. It features the Subspace Army attempting to destroy the world of Smash. The hero characters of several Nintendo series have to try and stop them. It is actually playable with two players, as well! Even though it may be one of the few single-player modes in the game, it still has slight multi-player features. Another interesting feature, is the Stage Builder, which allows you to actually make your very own stage for yourself! Wi-Fi Connection allows you to share your stages with other people around the world. That way, the stages NEVER get boring. Oh, I almost forgot to say, Brawl is compatible with Wi-Fi Connection. You can play With Friends or With Anyone. However, you can ONLY record battle records on the With Friends mode, which requires you to register another persons Friend Code. Special Brawl allows you to make your own set battles, with you being able to customize the battle before it starts. Classic Mode returns from the previous game, with the same gameplay as before. It does, however, have a set stage system, that hints that each series will have MORE than just two stages. Tournament mode returns as well, being completely compatible with Wi-Fi. Although, it is still basically the same as in Melee, however. The Home-Run Contest and the Target Smash return as well, with slightly new features (check the articles for in-depth info). Trophies return in the game as collectible items, as well as a new collectible item, the Sticker. Oh, and how can I forget, the most important part about Super Smash Bros. A standard mode that allows you to just fight as much as you want is still in the game. So, if you just want to unwind with some normal fights, just Brawl it out in VS mode. Now, for some non-gameplay junk. At this current moment, 22 characters have been confirmed, not including Zero Suit Samus, Squirtle, Ivysaur or Charizard. They 22 characters are: Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Samus, Fox, Zelda, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Peach, Ice Climbers, Pit, Wario, Meta Knight, Snake, Ike, Pokémon Trainer, Diddy Kong, Lucas, Sonic and King Dedede. That’s a big list! Brawl is also introducing 3rd Party characters into Super Smash Bros., with about two being confirmed. Snake and Sonic are the two confirmed 3rd Party characters. However, Sakurai has hinted that he may be including a third 3rd Party character. If there is, who could it be? The Assist Trophy debuts characters that couldn’t make it as playable characters. When a character is released from the Assist Trophy they, hence the name, assist the player. There are several stages confirmed as well, but I really shouldn’t be listing them all. New items, as well as old returning ones, are an important part of this game, as they can help inflict heavy damage on the opponent.
Japan will be getting the game on January 24th, 2008. Originally slated for a December 3rd release for America, it has now been pushed back to February 10, 2008. Sorry about that, yanks, but I have to wait WAY longer. We and Europe don’t even have a release date yet! Well, I at least have something to look forward to.
Other Games
Super Mario Galaxy was released just yesterday in Japan for the Wii. Glad you guys get to enjoy the game of a lifetime. However, this space game has not yet been released in America, Australia or Europe. America will get this game on November 12th, while Europe and Australia earn this game on November 16th and November 29th, respectively. For in-depth info about this Japan-released game, check the actual article.
DK Jungle Climber has been released in all the major Countries, except for Australia. Why are WE always left out!? Either way, this game is the Nintendo DS sequel to DK: King of Swing, and features pre-rendered sprites, just like Donkey Kong Country (although, these sprites are a lot more detailed than DKC). The game will be released in Australia on November 15th. Not TOO far away, I’m sure most Aussie Donkey Kong fans can wait. Check the article to see detailed information.
Donkey Kong Barrel Blast has already been released in Japan and America, but, Europe and Australia are still left in the dust! We don’t even have any release dates yet! This Wii racing game is, apparently, set for release next year in both Australia and Europe. I hope it comes in soon, cos’ racing games are really fun. Like the last two, visit the article if you want real details about this game.
Hello! It's-a me, RAPstar! And welcome to the *ta-da!* Entertainment Section. Well, let's get the eggs and bacons ready to grill 'cuz it's time to... *drum rolls!* review!!!!!!! Here's some news, there's a slight chance that I will remain on the 'Shroom as all. So, let's a go!
Ignorance is Bliss
Ah, a time to watch a.... *tires screech* A musical video!? OK OK, at least the video has some type of story. Sheesh, blow some darts. *darts thrown* Not that! *dodges!* I was joking! Anyway, the story is about the mischief Bowser taking all over the Dinosaur Land and turning this whole pile of rubble into an oil tycoon that almost no one will invade. Princess Peach appears to be captured by that guy, (again!). The song Bowser talked showed some of his feelings during the song played, as he continued to disclose his hateful feelings to the Mario Bros., Princess Peach (more likely) and how he feels on the place he captured. At the end, he suddenly made a "point" to clear this up. The song the video has played is based on that track, "Ignorance is Bliss" in the album White Knuckle Scorin', a group of artists where it makes a song for each popular game and the track is the only one produced! This nice video is created by Bug from Newgrounds *again?* Yes, again. A contributor to Newgrounds all right. He had made some nice graphics and animations that fit well into the music video. It looks cartoonic, *and RAPstar likes the wackyness with cartoons alright...*. So if you wanna hear how it actually goes, just throw yourself into this link in.................. Here!!!!!!
Mario's Flooded Floors
Dudes, this is a game review! Now beat with it! Since there's no story, I'll try making up one... Hmmmm, *tick tock tick tock tick tock* the story goes is that Mario is doing some plumbing work when suddenly he got carried away with his plumbing job, causing the building to start a flood inside. The flood with those evil Cheep Cheep start to come in. It's up to Mario to escape. *record screech*, dudes, the thing is it is a mini-game! And gawd I LOVE MINI-GAMES! It's like playing in an arcade! The thing is that Mario has to get out from the building soon as possible, by jumping by floor to floor that has holes in it. But all is not what worries the poor plumber, he would encounter Cheep Cheeps in hand, jumping to get that plumber. Every time he's near to the water, he suddenly gets tired waiting for a Game Over to grab him. When he's caught, you get the score. *DING* And it's addictive all right! You can change how many Cheep Cheeps are encountered there and most importantly change the size of the floor space. The tougher it is, the more points you receive just for that. This mini-game is produced by ShadowMan and no, not from Newgrounds but in Mario Fan Games Galaxy (AKA MFGG) *DING DING DING DING!* I think he deserves having a great mini-game. So, if you want arcade style gaming in our lovely hands, drop a user by Here and download it!!!

Xze: How'd you find the Wiki?
3D: I found it on the Wikipedia Mario article; I used to spend all my time there looking at all the Mario information... until I found that fateful link.
Xze: What was your first edit?
3D: I believe my first edit was something on the Sandbox (I can still remember the exact words: "OH, WOW!") I then went to patch up the Mega Mole article.
Xze: What is the craziest/funniest/wackiest thing you've done on the wiki?
3D: Getting into an argument with Uniju. Man, is that guy a total master of the comeback! We've made up since then, so I hope we won't have another one in the future.
Xze: What's better Donuts or Waffles?
3D: Krispy Kreme Double Glazes Chocolate Frosting Donuts.
Xze: What is your favorite thing to do on the wiki?
3D: My favorite thing to do is completely revamp pages; so far I've done that on the Wario and Yoshi Touch & Go articles; I have another one planned for DK: King of Swing.
Xze: Who is the weirdest user you've seen on the wiki?
3D: I'd have to say Sadaharu. That guy is random. More random than me, Moogle and Smiddle put together. And yet he holds it together with that strange literal style he has.
Xze: Which smiley is better or
3D: , for it expresses anger, shock and disgustedness, all of which i feel often.
Xze: Do you think this is the last question?
3D: No.

Another 'Shroom issue come and done. We lost a fine writer this month, TheGreatBlockyBoo (talk), who retired for personal reasons. He was replaced by Xluidi (talk). The Funnies Section has been scrapped due to lack of use and the Review section will be back up next month, reviewing the long-awaited Super Mario Galaxy. Also, late sections will be out shortly or else.... For you writers out there, the next issue will be due December 7th. As always, make any suggestions, comments, and complaints at the comments page.
