Classic Series, stylized as Classic Serie in some countries in Europe, was a marketing label that consisted of many reissues of Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy and Super Nintendo Entertainment System games. It was used for a few NES games in North America, of which none were from the Super Mario franchise. For European SNES rereleases, Super Classic Serie was used. Both the SNES and Game Boy labels were rebranded as Nintendo Classics before being replaced by the Player's Choice label.

Mario Bros.

The Classic Series version of Mario Bros. was released in Europe in 1993. It is much closer to the arcade original than the Arcade Classic Series version. It is also the only game within the label to have significant revisions.

Differences

  • The cutscenes from the arcade version have been reimplemented.
  • Mario can now turn a different direction while in midair, this feature originated Kaettekita Mario Bros..
  • The Shellcreeper's sprites look more similar to the arcade version. These sprites also originated from Kaettekita Mario Bros.
  • The Icicle enemies have been reimplemented.
  • The bonus stage with the invisible floor has been reimplemented.
