What is this category for? It sounds like it's for actual artifacts (e.g. the Volcano Vase), but includes things like Super Mushrooms and Wings. The description claims it's for "special items" with "mystical properties", which isn't really clarifying anything. Since the description says this is for things like Shine Sprites, it sounds like it's supposed to be for "legendary object"-type things, but most of this category doesn't fit that at all. What[edit]

Niiue (talk) 10:26, 2 January 2016 (EST)

I can almost understand the use of the word "artifacts" as an object found in RPG games with a special use, but even that is too vague to justify why things like a Ground-Pound Switch can make it to this category. RPG games are able to use a more specific category to keep together such artefacts, for example Category:Super Paper Mario Special Items. My opinion is to delete this category, and use other, more specific categories for any "artefacts"

Limit the category to actual artifacts 1-4-2
What is this category for, exactly? The name would imply it's for items like the Volcano Vase, while the description claims it's for "special items that have mystical properties", which is just about the most vague description possible. Judging by the name and the description referencing Shine Sprites, this sounds like it's for "legendary item"-type things, but most of this category doesn't fit that whatsoever. In reality, this is mostly used for:

I'm thinking this should either be deleted, or limited to things specifically stated to be artifacts (e.g. the Ancient Globe or Artifact).

Do nothing[edit]

 1. Time Turner (talk) Until I know exactly how this category will be affected, I won't agree with this.
 2. Chester Alan Arthur (talk) At this point I feel the proposal is to vague to have any real meaning. I'd like to know exactly what will be removed from this category before we pass this.

Comments[edit]

This category is only going to be for items that are explicitly called "artifacts"?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Time Turner (talk).

Well, no, it's not limited to items where the word "artifact" is used to describe them, it'd just be limited to items that fit most definitions of "artifacts" (e.g. the Skull Gem). Niiue (talk) 18:41, 8 August 2017 (EDT)
In that case, what is an "artifact"? Are you sticking with the current definition here, or are you going to change it to something else? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:48, 8 August 2017 (EDT)
Ancient objects/treasures? Niiue (talk) 18:51, 8 August 2017 (EDT)
The definition I got when I Binged it was "an object made by a human being, typically an item of cultural or historical interest" and "something observed in a scientific investigation or experiment that is not naturally present but occurs as a result of the preparative or investigative procedure". I'd see it as many of the Wario Land treasures, while the Mario's Time Machine and Mario is Missing items could technically count as well. Game Boy Camera is probably on there due to its role in that one comic mentioned on its page. {{User|Doc von Schmeltwick]] 17:53, 8 August 2017 (CT)

I said that because Bowser was using them in a Museum. Remember, I'm still only familiar with the NES version, which didn't have trade sequences. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:17, 8 August 2017 (CT)

Can we get a list of things that you want removed from this category? Chester Alan Arthur (talk)

Skimming over the category, here's an incomplete list:
tl;dr, magic items !== artifacts. Niiue (talk) 17:58, 9 August 2017 (EDT)
You've thoroughly confused me by including Green Gecko Gem, Golden Coin, and the Elemental Tablets on that list. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 16:02, 11 August 2017 (EDT)
Yeah, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I listed the Elemental Tablets, in hindsight. As for the others, the Green Gecko Gem sounds like a generic magic item from how it's described (though I could be wrong), and the six Golden Coins are just standard collectible MacGuffins.
