::I actually like the idea of "History in the Super Mario franchise," though History in other games I'm dubious over since it basically serves as a regurgitation (more or less) over what's covered on other NIWA wikis in greater detail. I'd propose such info be move to list pages, like how the Super Smash Bros. content was. :::I'm glad you like it! But to be clear, I in no way drafted this with the expectation that we would be covering these titles since they are distinctly not Mario games. That's just silly and dilutes our wiki's focus. I just thought it could be referenced for subjects endemic to Super Mario that just happen to show up elsewhere from time to time (like Chain Chomp, Wart, Piranha Plant, the man himself, etc.). But again, it got gratuitous. It just became a bit fun to put together. - Nintendo101 (talk) 19:54, May 10, 2024 (EDT) | :::I'm glad you like it! What are all of these non-Super Mario section headings listed on the page? I don't understand what's going on here. Super Mario RPG (talk) 18:46, May 10, 2024 (EDT)
- Well, I started this page to draft a mock taxonomic scheme for games that I would recommend. For recurring subjects like Chain Chomps that occur outside of the Super Mario franchise, you could have a "History in the Super Mario franchise" and a "History in other games" sections rather than just one big one if having a single History section became too bloated. I don't know if that'd work, but it was just something I was toying around with here. This whole page is like a "mini sandbox" to contrast with my larger, main one.
- However, I find drafting lists a bit therapeutic, and I have been pretty stressed IRL lately, so I got a bit carried away with listing non-Mario Nintendo series and franchises. I'll probably delete it soon. - Nintendo101 (talk) 19:06, May 10, 2024 (EDT)

- I see. TBH, I don't think there really are "generic subjects" in Mario, and I'm not sure it's an accurate framing. There are subjects that share the same name or general appearance of a real world subject, but they are mechanically and behaviorally completely divorced from the real article. It's also unclear where that would make sense. In Japan, the Screwtop is simply called a "screw", and used to be similarly localized as such. However, it is about the same size as Mario, spins when he physically twirls on it, and physically changes the world around him. While called a "screw" in Japanese, no real-world screw does what it does.
- Cogs are a bit similar, except Nintendo of America have not given them a fun English name (except maybe "Crushing-Cog" in NSMBU - that's debatable). Does that make it a more generic than a Screwtop? I don't think it does. (This is just my opinion, though. It's totally fine if you or anyone else feel differently.) - Nintendo101 (talk) 17:37, May 16, 2024 (EDT)
- I'm aware that just because the names are shared with generic subjects doesn't necessarily mean that they are. Also, I tried out the History in the Super Mario franchise idea on the History of Luigi and Birdo pages. From trying it out, I've found that the heading works on generic subjects (Grapes), crossover characters as they appear in Super Mario (Link), content of the Super Mario franchise that have appeared in other media outside of Super Mario (Birdo), and real-world accessories (Game Boy).
