La Bomba is a 1-vs.-3 minigame in Mario Party 7. Its name is Italian and Spanish for "the bomb"; it is also a pun on the title of the Mexican folk song "La Bamba," best known for its association with Ritchie Valens and later covered by Los Lobos.

Introduction[edit]

The game takes place in a Bob-omb-shipping factory. The solo player stands on a conveyor belt and ground-pounds above one of the attached boxes, dropping a Bob-omb into the team players' area below.

Gameplay[edit]

The solo player's objective is to drop Bob-ombs on the other three players and try to eliminate them. The team players' objective is to avoid the Bob-ombs and the three spiked spinners on the stage. The large conveyor belts carry boxes in different directions, and the solo player must ground-pound the switches to open the boxes and release the Bob-ombs inside. The gray boxes hold only one Bob-omb, the green boxes hold two, and the red boxes hold four. The Bob-ombs either walk in place or actively chase one of the team players. Being caught in a Bob-omb's explosion immediately eliminates that player, as does having a Bob-omb land on top of them. Players are also eliminated immediately if they make contact with a spinner. If the solo player eliminates all of their opponents within 30 seconds, the solo player wins. If at least one of the team players survives long enough, the team wins.
