I'm working right now on a tabletop rpg system based on the game mechanics and some part of the lore of the first two Paper Mario games. One of my player wanted to play a shadow (in the concept of a shadow siren in the TTYD game) and I was wondering how to work the racial concept of his special abilities, so I dug some informations in the complete franchise's lore.
My proposition about the shadow species is based on multiples researches about the lore of the games. In the third opus of the Paper mario franchise, the Shamans are part of a group called The Tribe of The Ancients. A part of this tribe went rogue and became the Tribe of Darkness. SO I questionned the core nature of the shaman species : what are they exactly? Not humans, but we never see their body. Completely dark face but with two gleaming yellow eyes, maybe some kind of astral/space/star energy body. Don't forget that the tribe an ancients were powerful being with magical affinities. Now look at the Shadow Queen and Shadow Sirens, with their magical affinities and their shadowy allures. Wouldn't they be part of this Tribe of Darkness mentionned frequently in the franchise? Just speculation, but frankly it's an appealing theory to me.

Aren't they demons of some kind? I vaguely remember Frankly or Goombella referring to the Shadow Queen as an ancient Demon Goomb-omb 00:45, 24 June 2009 (EDT)
-Actually, yes. You're right. The Shadow Queen HAS been referred to as a demon many times in the game, so it's possible that the Shadow Sirens were, too.

It's probably like when somebody calls something a monster: they mean it's a diabolical, cruel, living creature. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Template:SettledTPP Template:ProposalOutcome This is an entirely speculative species that provides nothing of note. There is no information in this article that is not made entirely redundant and ultimately pointless by the existence of other articles, including Shadow Sirens and Shadow Queen. There are plenty and plenty and plenty and plenty of individuals that do not have articles about their hypothetical species, and we shouldn't have them in the first place, especially if we have nothing new to say (and no, restating the obvious and wild speculation does not count). This is to say nothing of the precedent set by the deletion of Piranha Bud, Puff, Goom, Stu, and others. To put it simply, there is no merit to this article; therefore, I want to delete it.

@Doc: I took "Shadow Sirens" to be the name of Beldam's group and not the name of their species (and indeed, the wiki classifies it as a group). Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:27, 26 September 2017 (EDT)
- What "species" are they then if this article is deleted? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:12, 7 October 2017 (EDT)
- I make a point in the proposal about how not literally every individual needs to have a clear-cut, defined species, especially when it is born of nothing but speculation. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 16:15, 7 October 2017 (EDT)
