Naming issue

Since the English Mario Portal uses two names for this enemy, which should we go by? "Ground Urchin" is used for the Super Mario Galaxy appearance, whereas "Hot Urchin" is used for the Super Mario Galaxy 2 appearance. I'd go with Hot Urchin since it's used in reference to the more recent game (assuming we're not considering 3D All-Stars). --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 13:00, August 13, 2022 (EDT)
Agreed. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 13:05, August 13, 2022 (EDT)
I'd personally go with Ground Urchin as the article title because these names were technically released simultaneously, so I don't think it really falls into the usual "recent" naming - it's a closer translation to the original name, and these Urchins aren't exactly "hot" as they can be easily burned up. That said, I think Super Mario Galaxy 2 info should still use Hot Urchin. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:11, August 13, 2022 (EDT)

Decide which name to use for this enemy

Since no other comments have been made to the above discussion, and a staff member has insisted that the discussion be continued, I think we should start a proposal. The English Mario Portal refers to this enemy as "Ground Urchin" for the Super Mario Galaxy section and as "Hot Urchin" for the Super Mario Galaxy 2 section. Which of the two names should we use, if at all?

"Ground Urchin"

  1. Archivist Toadette (talk) I think this name is the most straightforward, since it adequately defines what the enemy is. Also, it doesn't always appear in lava-themed areas; see Battle Belt Galaxy as an example.
  2. Bazooka Mario (talk) So far, more names seem to refer to the land aspect of these things.

"Hot Urchin"

  1. Waluigi Time (talk) Since it's being used in reference to the more recent game, this is the one I'd personally go with.
  2. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) The purple ones appear on the ground/negligibly shallow waters on rare occasions in the SMG games too (Freezeflame in 1, Slimy Spring in 2), and these are usually found in hot areas; even the Battle Belt ones were on a distinctly scorched-looking planet.

Keep at "Urchin (land)"
