Cross Lifts[1] are platforms that appear in New Super Mario Bros. U and its Nintendo Switch port. They are a type of solid platform that expands and contracts horizontally, and also conversely expands and contracts vertically. They appear only in the level Shifting-Floor Cave, where they are extremely common throughout the level, though they also reprise their role in the challenge The High Road.
