Tsubōn

Tsubōn are pot-shaped enemies with a skull mark in Mario & Wario. They are stationed on walls and ceilings, and routinely spit fireballs. They are sometimes found hanging on breakable obstacles such as Hibi Blocks, so Wanda can simply crack or disable their foothold, making them disappear once they hit the ground. However, some Tsubōn must be passed at sections such as elevators or holes, which requires careful timing to get her helpless character by them. Wanda can also hit their projectiles to neutralize them, or hit the diagonal-facing versions on some ceiling to get them to aim in another direction. They are most prominent in LEVEL 5, where they appear in every area.

In Super Mario-kun volume 10, it's reveal that the Tsubōns are cursed people who drink the Blargg's mysterious soup in a Slow Pot inside the Fire Cave. In the chapter 2 the victims are Luigi, a Drybone, a Flying Galoomba, a Monty Mole, a Thwomp, Iggy and a Super Star. Yoshi gets also cursed, but not completely: only his head gets transformed into a jar since he just peed in it. Touching the cursed victims with a sword hidden in the cave will restore their original form, and by defeating the Blargg all the victims return to normal.
