There are none on the island. I even checked by doing the course all modes, grand prix, versus and multiplayer. Piantas are on the boat.{{User:YoshiGo99/sig}}

I am not exactly sure what they are meant to be, but the [http://images.wikia.com/mario/images/3/32/DK's_Jungle_Parkway_-_Jungle_-_Mario_Kart_64.png objects thrown] are clearly some kind of fruit. They are most like [[durian]]s, since the design matches durians seen in other games and the color scheme matches [http://g02.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1kenJHVXXXXXzXVXXq6xXFXXXH/30pcs-a-lot-the-durian-tree-seed-with-30pcs-japanese-pine-tree-seed-as-gift-so.jpg Japanese durians] as well. I have never seen piantas on the center island.

If you read carefully, they only appear in the Mario Kart Wii version. Balloon Fighter costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC
