In version 1.4.0 of Dr. Mario World, versus mode introduced the specialists feature. For a duration of time, usually a week, selected doctors will be assigned as specialists, in which they will receive certain boosts that gives them an advantage in a match. Typically, the specialist period will last until it is one hour before the next one starts, which is the only period of time when there are no specialists.

Unless otherwise stated, all start times are 06:00 UTC and all end times are 05:00 UTC

Boosts

Icon	Description	Explanation
	Increases attack meter fill speed by 10%.	This effect will reduce the attack meter by 10% of their initial meter so that the doctor can attack faster. The resulting value is rounded up to the nearest round number..
	Increases the battle points you can obtain by 20%.	This effect increases the amount of battle points obtained in a match by 20% of the winning points if the specialist wins. The resulting value is rounded up to the nearest round number.
	Changes the number of keys you can collect for winning a match to 2.	This effect increases the amount of keys obtained in a match from 1 to 2 if the specialist wins. If there is only one key left before the battle box is unlocked, only one key is rewarded.
	Increases chance to defend by 10%.	This effect will increase all of the doctor's defenses by 10%. The value is capped at 80% for any doctor with more than 70% defense.
	Increases skill level by 1.	This effect will allow a specialist to use their skill as if it's one level higher than normal. If the specialist is already at the maximum level (level 5), their skill meter will be reduced by 20% instead.
