Crabs are a species of animals found in a few Mario games. There is a kind of crab known as Sidestepper, which looks just like a crab but has another attack pattern. In the Mario Kart Series, crabs can be found mostly on beach stages where they walk left and right. Driving over one will make the player spin around.
In Super Mario Galaxy, there are red and blue crabs (found in mostly beach galaxies. To defeat them, Mario must jump on it first. This will do no damage, but the crabs will then try to hide in their shell. However, Mario must Star Spin on their back. This will defeat them. Blue crabs are more skittish and when defeated, give out a 1-up Mushroom.
