Hello, Lastro. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below. {{aboutfile |1=Subject of the image |2=Where you found the image |3=Artist |4=Describe edits, if any |5=Other versions (use file link) }} Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. Hello, Lastro. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file into a subject category. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, images related to the game Super Mario World would use: [[Category:Super Mario World images]]or one it its subcategories. Media files would use: [[Category:Super Mario World media files]] Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Additionally, you should avoid punctuation in the images, aside from the extension.
Also, I don't think we consider Warp Cannon and ! Pipe as items, so they shouldn't use the item infobox. We don't have one for Warp Pipe, so I'm going off of that. 14:52, June 15, 2020 (EDT)
Conversation with Alex95
Hi Alex,
Thanks for your message! About the Cannon Pipe and the ! Pipe, I had check the ? Panel status and it was actually classified as an item, so I decided to do the same with them. Also, how can I have an user page, as I don't have any at this moment. And finally, I've remove the background on a picture of Mega Sledge Bro but I didn't do well with the hammer as it's quite difficult at this part. So go see the result and feel free to delete it or to make it better! Oh, I almost forgot; I'm new to this website so that's why I'm not familiarize with it. Now, I'm focusing on French translation and making pages better! Lastly, I'm french so that's why they might be some grammatical or syntactic errors. Have a nice evening (it's 9:45 PM for me)
Sincerely,
Justin
- The ? Panel is classified as an item? That's odd, the player can't use it as one. May have to go over that later...
- Welcome to the site, though!

Thanks. Oh, also, how do you replace your sign with an image. I have one but I don't know how to replace it. And for my user page, I think you need to activate it. But anyways, I love editing on this website!
- You will be able to create your userpage once you are autoconfirmed, which happens automatically after you have had your account for seven days and have made ten edits.

Oh nice. I'm now changing and reviewing all my uploaded files! So, do you know how to change the sign to an image? (I'm sorry if I'm a little insistent, but I love being edited and tidy)
- You mean change a link? You replace the name that's there with the new file name, if you think your file is a better version. There's several other steps involved, though, so what are you trying to do?

I misspoke. In fact, I'd like to know how you changed your signature because now it's an image of your name in a Mario font. Also, while I was reviewing my files, I had another question: can you change the name of a file's page (example: change "File:NSMBWSledgeBroModel" to "File:NSMBW Sledge Bro Model")? If so, how? And I almost forgot, thank you very much, I mean, thank you a thousand times for your help.
- Ah, user templates. Once you can make your userpage, you can also make a signature page that you can use instead of just basic font. Mine is at User:Alex95/sig, for example. You can learn more userspace stuff at MarioWiki:Userspace.
- To move a file (or any page, for that matter), there will be a "move" tab at the top of the page once you are autoconfirmed. After moving the page, you should fix any links that lead to the original image and mark the original file name for deletion (done by putting {{delete}} on the redirect).
- You're welcome, no problem ^^

Ok, I understand. But I'm not sure if I have understood the second part. Actually, I would just like to know how to rename a page (because I saw that "File:NSMB2!Pipe" became "File:NSMB2 Exclamation Pipe").
- As I said, you have to use the "move" tab and it will let you rename the file. It should not be available to you yet.

Also, you should sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically create your user links and timestamp. 18:20, June 15, 2020 (EDT)
Okey-dokey! I have a question: is that you who decided to delete the yellow ! switch? I understand you but there was actually the same picture but with a bg before and it wasn't mean to be deleted 1JUST1 (talk) 18:23, June 15, 2020 (EDT)
- It got switched back because artwork has a priority. Looking at both the cropped screenshot and the extracted sprite, we should just use the screenshot, as the crop looks pretty rough around the edges.
18:29, June 15, 2020 (EDT)
Oh... But I can redo the crop, though.
Oh, I've finished one... 1JUST1 (talk) 18:41, June 15, 2020 (EDT) In fact, I prefer non-background images... Look:https://www.mariowiki.com/File:NSMBW_Yellow_!_Switch.png
- ...Why did you reupload it after I already deleted it and said it wasn't necessary?
18:48, June 15, 2020 (EDT)
As it was written "Poor crop" so I wanted to improve it, I though this was the issue. And sorry for not answering you directly, it was nearly 1 AM so I went sleeping.

Please don't upload cropped versions of existing images with poor transparency. Converting jpgs to png in particular for the sake of cropping and adding transparency is prohibited. Read MarioWiki:Image use policy before making further uploads.
And please remember to sign every comment you make, even on your own talk page. Mario JC 06:01, June 16, 2020 (EDT)
Ok, sorry...1JUST1 (talk) 06:12, June 16, 2020 (EDT)
Hi Alex. I wonder if you could move the page Skull switch to Skull Switch. I know it's a small change, but it's written like that, and basically everything has caps on their names. Check out this if you don't believe me (I replaced added the Skull Switch on this page). Thanks! 1JUST1 (talk) 18:07, June 18, 2020 (EDT)
- Our source shows it in lowercase, so unless you can prove otherwise, there's no reason to move it.

Go here and you will see of what I'm talking about. Also, could I have a screenshot as I don't have the guide, please? Thanks!
- Image proof.
