The Master Sword is a legendary weapon originating from the The Legend of Zelda series. It has been wielded by the protagonist, Link, in the Zelda titles, and in most crossovers with Mario where he is depicted as an adult (such as the Super Smash Bros. titles.
Starting on December 5th, the Master Sword will be added to Super Mario Maker 2 in a free update, where it serves as a power-up. This item will turn Mario into Link, and he will be able to use his shield to block enemies and projectiles, bombs to hit switches and blow up blocks, and a bow and arrow to collect items or attack enemies. He will also be able to use the sword to hit enemies, and will be able to use a dash attack with said sword and a down thrust in similar fashion to a Ground Pound.
