Mastah Mosquito[1] is an enemy found in the game Virtual Boy Wario Land. It is an oversized mosquito that is only seen in the seventh level of the game. Mastah Mosquito has two pairs of wings on each side of its abdomen, with two arms and two legs. It has stripes over the lower half of its body and a sharp, spear-like proboscis is located just below the creature's eyes. The artwork of Mastah Mosquito depicts it with yellow arms, a blue body and orange head. During gameplay, once the game's protagonist Wario enters a room where a Mastah Mosquito inhabits, it will emerge from below the floor, uncurling its wings and will hover near the ceiling. After catching sight of Wario, Mastah Mosquito will proceed to swoop him and try to deal damage via the sharp proboscis that protrudes from its face. Wario is able to evade the attack by jumping out of the way, which will cause the mosquito to turn back the way it came in order to try and attack again. It will give up on the second attempt and retreat back towards the ceiling, swooping again within a few seconds. If Wario is to jump on top of Mastah Mosquito during flight, it will fall to the ground, stunned and immobile. Its wings will curl up and the proboscis will temporarily appear blunt, but it will fully recover if left alone for a few seconds. While the creature is stunned, Wario is able to pick up and throw it. The main purpose of this action is to throw the creature into a Coin Cloud that may be seen nearby, depending on the area. The Coin Cloud will redeem the enemy for a large Coin which Wario is able to collect. He is also able to defeat the enemy by Ground Pounding its head or performing a Dash Attack to a non-threatening part of its body.
